Protesters injured in clash with police at Bangkok’s Democracy Monument

Two protesters were slightly injured in a minor clash between anti-government protesters and police at the Democracy Monument before noon today (Thursday). Police reiterated their warning that protesters will not be allowed to get close to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, where APEC meetings are being held.

 

Crowd control police moved on a group of protesters as they tried to approach the monument with a ladder, to hang a protest banner. Police used their shields to block the protesters, as some of them shouted “Arrest us!”, but the police did not make any arrests.

 

Pol Maj-Gen Archayon Kraithong, spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, said that protesters must notify authorities before staging a rally or moving to protest at another location.

They could have prevent demonstrations. If Mr Prayuth announced to step down after the APEC  summit, if the Government approved the Gay Marriage, there would be already a lot of tension gone by the protestors, but no... thePM want to keep his job although he doesn't want it, as he said himself, delays in decisions, and so will only keep the demonstrations going on.. Or am I the one that sounds stupid?

Why no photos of protesters? How many were there? Was this a large scale protest or just a few students?

Bring out those water cannons and a few tanks ....   they'll soon disperse once they approach.

my thoughts also ..... not a very informative photo ... maybe it was just a hand full of students, who knows.

The police cq Thailand is showing their real face now in how to deal with free democratic demonstrations... Rubber bullits without reason.. How to make people more angry? How to loose control instead of coming with solutions. Now it is working as a snowball .. unreasonable action get reactions and so on

Riot police at Asoke wore blue & yellow scarves. Never seen these on coppers before.

Some of these protest get out of hand quick. If you want to protest fine do it in peaceful way…

It may just be a rumour but whilst in the pub last night I overheard the reason those two in question went protesting is because when they arrived home that evening both had had thier blow up dolls stolen, and one of them only likes black ones, which are much harder to order, so they were both <deleted> off and they decided to cause a commotion so it was said down the pub. It wasn't politically motivated.
