Ban Bung police in Chonburi were called to a collision between a 22 wheel Isuzu truck/trailer and a family in an Isuzu pick-up last night.

It happened just after 9pm between KM markers 17 and 18 on the Ban Bung to Klaeng Road (Route 344).

Rescue services found the truck had crushed the smalled vehicle and a backhoe was utilized to lift it to help the victims.

Dead at the scene was 50 year old Nitaya. Her husband Sompong, 52, was cut out alive as was her son Rung-arun aged 13.

The driver of the large truck said that he had to brake sharply after the vehicle in front braked suddenly causing him to skid in wet conditions.

Ban Bung police continue to investigate, reported Thai Rath

when will the police start making truck drivers responsible for killing other road users instead of letting them make up BS excuses, driving to fast and too close, not having decent brakes, not knowing how to control the trucks, this all falls back on the lack of police doing their jobs. The truck drivers need to be charged with murder because that is what it is, they do not signal, they do not take care, they think they are kings of the road and drive like it because they know they can hit other with impunity

I think more importantly is the fact that truck drivers need to have proper training and an HGV test!! Nothing to do with the police who totally fail all road users with their lack of any action.

There is simply no school in Thailand that can provide a good driving course.

The police force in Thailand are unquestionably responsible for many hundreds, maybe thousands, of road deaths a year as they point blank refuse to do their job.

I do agree with you but the way that Thais obtain their licences leaves a lot to be desired. Start with the basics by getting that correct and things may improve. The system is a complete joke as we all know and have written about this fact so many times. There is no way that this form of training, and I use this word very lightly, is acceptable in this day and age. Things have changed since the day of buffalo and cart!!

Then the police could go out with patrols, unheard of I know, and catch the chancers with no licences, drinks or drugs. But this is all in cloud cuckoo land as we all know.

Such a shame driving distancing is not endorsed.

So very true....
