Formula One driver Alex Albon is more than hopeful that Thailand will one day host a Grand Prix.

For the best part of a decade, Thailand has been mooted as a potential location for a Formula One race.

Back in 2013, the Sports Authority of Thailand even approved a proposed route for a street circuit in Bangkok.

The route would go through the heart of historical Bangkok, giving spectators and TV viewers the chance to see several tourist spots such as the Grand Palace, Victory Monument and Temple of Dawn.

Street circuit in central Bangkok? Should be exciting with all the Panda / Lineman / Grab motor cycle delivery guys riding in the opposite direction to the race.

Short time Pit Stop, Pattaya Soi 6.????????

There is nowhere in Thailand that has a track capable of having F1 cars going around it at speed. The only places flat enough would be a large airport. The Americans used to use airports and air bases for high speed racing.  Lots of long straights and nothing to hit and good run off areas.  Don Mueang and the big road at the back near the air museum would be perfect !

Buriram International Circuit?  Designed by Hermann Tilke, F1 circuit designer.

Problem here is when they pass the Grand Palace the tuk tuk drivers will say its closed and redirect them to a suit shop.

And how are the Soi Dogs going to be kept off the track!

BRIC - No supporting infrastructure to host an F1 event.

I want the tire and strut concessions. McLaren meet pothole.

Paholyothin Rd is already a race track, so what is wrong with one more boy racer doing laps.

Except for all of the planes in the way. Nok and Air Asia turn way more money through DMK than any car race.

Let's get rid of all power poles first.....

Buriram is fully F1 and motogp compliant.

It was hoped to have an F1 GP there a few years ago but the manila A4s were just not big enough.

Motogp has been going there since 2018. They got 178,000 spectators this year.

Bira is not an FIA graded track.

Bangsaen street circuit was a grade 3 but that expired in June 2021

Cynical but accurate assessment of the way that F1 is run these days, hence the sport-washing events in the cash-rich Middle East.

Could even incorporate novelty events?

Maybe being the first car to flip onto its roof while driving in a straight line.

Common occurence here.????????

I went to WSB in 2019 and was toying with going to Moto GP this year but could not find any accommodation within 100km let alone finding flights from DMK.

I know Bira is not an FIA graded 1 track, that might be why I did not mention Bira !!

Maybe it could be like a olympic steeplechase?

Power poles, grab riders, food vendors and the essential soi dogs.

Throw in a couple of Immi Officers to stamp the passport and ask for a map of the track each lap?????????

They cannot build a road that breaks after 6 months into potholes and bumps, Buriram does not have enough rooms to accomodate guests of a Thai wedding, airport and infrastructure around it is a bad joke. And now they wanna compete with S'pore, Dubai, Adelaide, Vegas, etc ? Just a bad joke or a funny headline for the Buriram Buffalo Post newspaper.

So did (not) Qatar in another field lol

And many a local could teach those F1 guys, I mean how many of them could take a corner at high speed and then park a Pick Up neatly half way up a tree.
