Thailand's chief of immigration and his deputies at Suan Phlu HQ in Bangkok yesterday announced the arrest of a 52 year old Swedish man.

The unnamed individual was picked up at a house in the Hin Lek Fai sub-district of Hua Hin on Sunday, reported Siam Rath

IB deputy Pol Maj-Gen Phanthana Nucharat said that they were informed by the Nordic police department of the Swedish Embassy that the man had been named in a warrant in Sweden.

It concerns accounting offences at a company there in the sum of 35 million baht that were allegedly committed between 2017 and 2019.

The authorities went to his house and announced themselves and when the suspect was satisfied with the documentation he was taken in.

Phanthana also stressed the importance of householders in reporting the whereabouts of foreigners at their properties within 24 hours under Article 38.

Naew Na also reported the story with pictures of the arrest in Hua Hin.

The media had long lists of standard rhetoric about the Thai PM, chief of RTP and deputies regarding inappropriate Thai and foreign behavior regarding lawbreaking.

You do not think his name was on that warrant? It was the Nordic police that informed them. After they got the name, It was probably quite easy to find him.

Thailand is full of international criminals and fugitive from justice knowing they can live/hide in an obscure village/ location and if they behave, no one will ever find them plus they can get fake credentials and ID's...

Good stuff. Should be a lot more of it.  Plenty of lowlifes living in Thailand off the back of significant crimes when they should be in prison and barred from traveling out of their countries.

Unfortunately reality is many got away with whatever evil deeds they did in the past and have luxurious lives here, some even gloat about it.  Only a few get caught like this Swedish man.

One of the upshots of allowing visa-free travel.

sweden uses thai baht as the local currency. good.

Nordic police dept. of Swedish Embassy? No, it doesn't work this way, that's load of <deleted>.

Whatever department of any embassy can't "inform IB".

And the last perl is "under Article 38" - what Article 38? Of life and Universe and Everything?

From Siam Rath article, translated in Google translate:

"By emphasizing the place of residence where the alien resides, the owner or occupant must notify  to the immigration office within 24 hours under section 38 of the Immigration Act 1979, which is considered an important tool in control  Prevent and suppress criminal groups that lurk in various forms."

Siam Rath is a Thai language only newspaper. Have to copy and paste article into Google translate, 1 section at a time.

That aside, seems TM30 is being invoked here. But who bothers nowadays?

Amazing to see a fellow dirt bag,

A fellow dirt bag?  You realise that, by phrasing it that way, you're saying that you're a "dirt bag" also?!   I'm sure you're not.

Nah, don't think so...

Did it state that Sweden uses THB?  No, it didn't.

You know Sweden is a Nordic country, yes?  If it has a police liaison section, of course it can work with Thai police and it does work that way.

Article/Section 38 of the Immigration Act 1979, obviously.

They're not criminals, just innocent overstayers helping prop up the Thai economy.

Are you talking about the first photo or the one with the Police Chief's getting publicity at the press conference?
