January 6 committee releases final report, says Trump should be barred from office

Featured Replies

"Ginni Thomas and Clarence Thomas must BOTH be subpoenaed to testify under oath before one of the grand juries hearing evidence about the January 6 coup," Snell tweeted on Friday. "At best, they are material fact witnesses. At worst, they are co-conspirators to be charged with seditious conspiracy."

On Saturday, Tribe agreed and tweeted: "They are at least material fact witnesses. If Justice Thomas were to defy a subpoena on separation of powers grounds, it's fair to ask whether he'd recuse from DOJ's appeal to SCOTUS from a lower federal court ruling upholding Thomas's conviction for contempt of court."

Extra cops were sent to protect generals' homes on Jan. 6 instead of the Capitol — even though they weren't needed

“It’s a response I will never forget for the rest of my life,” Sund writes in the book. He recalled hearing the frantic voices of officers being sent to the command center while he was on the phone: “Shots fired in the Capitol, shots fired in the Capitol.”

“Is that urgent enough for you now?” Sund barked at the military leader.

From Sun's book too:

"He had a call with two generals at about 2:35 p.m., about 20 minutes after the attackers broke through the doors and lawmakers were rushing to safety. He said that Lt. Gen. Walter Piatt said he didn't like the optics of sending uniformed Guard soldiers to the Capitol but would put them at roadside checkpoints. The comment is shocking because it's exactly what Donald Trump and Republicans have claimed Nancy Pelosi said before the attack. It turns out, it came from Trump's allies instead."

People gotta realize that Trump is nothing more than one of a long line of Sock Puppets to gain and keep control of the country.

The Justice system will do the same to him as they did to Nixon - Nuttin'

Thought they had him over the tax returns, must have been a huge disappointment for the haters and traitors that he really had done nothing illegal and had donated his salary to charity minus one dollar plus extra. What other president did that?

There is no evidence that Trump donated his salary to charity.  Are you one of those guys that still believes every word Trump says?  At some point, you may come to realize that you were conned.  Or maybe not....5555

His tax returns indicated 0 charitable contributions in 2020.  He may have given in previous years, but he said he would donate ALL of his salary.....clearly a lie.

Storming the Capitol goes way past being "ill-informed".

However if you are arguing that the Mayor and Chief of Police of Washington DC were idiots for not recognizing what dangerous idiots Trump's far-right supporters are....You've got a point.

Option 2 but with more focus on the lack of security preparation prior to J6.

It seems that Trump knew his fan base and others did not believe it until to late. That's why he was able to spout his rhetoric and incite the people to do as he wanted. The mans a true conman and yet folks still don't believe it.

Within that story, the new link to Steven A. Sund goes to this:

https://www.rawstory.com/law-enforcement-officials-were-fearful-of-violence-in-days-leading-up-to-january-6-transcripts/

Which suggests that "For the most part, Jan. 6 committee leaders decided against focusing the final report on how law enforcement came to be so underprepared for the attack."

Why am I not surprised?

Seems clear enough to me. Trump understood what his fan base was capable of and others didn't until it was too late.

When a serious crime is committed, the investigation usually focuses on the criminals who committed the crime, not the lack of precautions taken by the victim(s).

So that MAGA nation can deflect from their un-American support to illegally disrupt the peaceful transition of power.

An investigation with so much left out. How can this committee expect broad acceptance if its 'findings'?

True. It left out the issue of Ginni Thomas emails with Meadows and any involvement Clarence might have had.
