540 drivers have driving license points deducted on 1st day of new system

Altogether 540 motorists and motorcyclists had driving license points deducted on the first day of the enforcement of the points system yesterday (Monday), said the spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, Pol Maj-Gen Archayon Kraithong today.

Thailand’s economy in 2023 could pose multiple challenges to government and central bank

Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) will expand by around 3-4 percent this year, only slightly higher than last year’s 3.2 percent, the National Economic and Social Development Council, a state think-tank, has forecast. But many economists believe the GDP growth is below the country’s potential.

Budget Approved for 2024 Fiscal Year

BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has approved a budget of 3.35 trillion baht (US$100 billion) for 2024 fiscal year. This represents an increase of 5.18%, or 165 billion baht, compared to the 2023 fiscal year, in which the government set expenditure at 3.18 trillion baht and a budget deficit of 695 billion baht.

Thailand reports drop in hospitalised Covid cases during first week of 2023

Thailand’s Department of Disease Control has reported a drop in the number of Covid patients being hospitalised during the first week of this year. A total of 997 patients were hospitalised, at an average of 142 a day. According to department boss, Dr Tares Krassanairawiwong, that number is half that of the week before.

Woman arrested in connection with online cheating of boy who killed himself

Police from Thailand’s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) have arrested a woman for allegedly opening bank accounts used by online scammers, who reportedly cheated a 15-year-old boy out of about 14,000 baht. The boy, who is believed to have stolen the money from his parents, later committed suicide.
