Health insurance

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I've been reading through this forum and it looks like the 40k/400k insurance needed to apply for a non O-A retirement visa is worthless. Does anyone know about an affordable health insurance that covers major health issues? Age range 60-65.

Thanks in advance.

I have an OA.  The 400/40 is old.  It is now 3.Million Baht or $100,000 USD of coverage.  I have had Pacific Cross for the last four years.  So far no complaints.  The annual premium for under 60 is 62,000 Baht.  Always shop around and ask as many people you can talk to about Health Insurance in Thailand.

I have never filed an insurance claim in Thailand so I do not know the value of this insurance.  Really do not know if they will pay if I end up in a hospital.

That's why most folk ditch their non O-A and start over with a non O.

Also it's no longer 40/400k.

You are in for a shock with new requirements.

Affordable = local insurance.

Quality insurance = International expat insurance.

You can't have both, and age 60+ should go for expat insurance. Expect premium 80,000 - 130,000 thb year.

Affordable often come with low coverage as well.

* Major surgery is 3 Mill++

Suppose I get a non-O extension inside Thailand that doesn't require insurance, what should I expect to pay for a local insurance that covers the basic issues let's say a traffic accident, a heart's attack, etc?

I don't understand many of your questions.

You need to research insurance options that cover your needs.

For tourists that in the main is travel insurance.

For expats seems that most opt for insurance from international companies.

Not really a topic specific to this forum.

Check out "Health Medicine" forum.
