Pattaya, Thailand-Jomtien Beach is set to continue its expansion project from the current expanded area of Soi 11 towards Dongtan Beach in the near future, according to Mr. Ekarat Sukantharo, Director of the Pattaya Harbor Office.

 

Ekarat also stated that the finished project will be, in his opinion, comparable to Miami Beach in Florida in the United States.

 

The Jomtien Beach Expansion has been a several year project for over 5 kilometers in total and has been disrupted several times by both the Covid pandemic and issues with contractors. The project was briefly paused again during the height of the high season in November and December but is now set to resume shortly.

So now we have a high season and presumably a low one? I thought the tourists from Asia and the sub continent and Russia were to keep us busy all year round.....not that I would not welcome a quiet spell.

Everybody knows that Miami Beach will soon be underwater. 

 

The sea is inevitably rising due to Global Warming. 

 

Maybe it's not so much a good thing to be comparable to Miami Beach, these days...

Yes, there are similarities. This picture is not from Pattaya but from Miami.

Comp to Miami? Looking at photos of Miami, something seems missing: ah.... you can see the ocean! No wall to wall beach umbrellas for miles on end. There are some, but not the abominable levels of Jomtien

I think they've just gone completely overboard on it. The beach south of Wat Bun is now more like a stretch of the Sahara desert, a vast expanse of empty sand. You have to walk quite a long way on very hot sand under a burning sun to get from the deck chair vendors to the actual sea. Compare it with the old beach north of Wat bun, where you can just slip out of your deck chair and a few yards away is the sea, and I know which one I prefer. I guess there was more money to me made my the authorities this way, maybe their kick-backs were measured in Baht per ton of sand dredged up, lol?

Has this clown ever been to Miami Beach? Has he even seen pictures of it?  Thais seem to have visions of grandeur, as in short-time cabins being called 'resorts', normal hotel rooms being called 'suites', 'unlimited' internet that is limited to a certain level before speed is crippled, blocks of low-cost rooms called 'mansions' and so on.

I guess nobody has been to Miami Beach, which is a separate city than Miami, FL.  Don't confuse the two. 

Miami Beach and its famed South Beach is where billionaires and movie stars hang out with models.  

It's definitely a great place to 'hang' if you are expensing everything on your company card, I have to admit.

I'm sure Jomtien Beach will become just like that!

Well if you have ever been to Miami South Beach I dont think you will have the same opinion as this fellow, South Beach is huge & clean, Pattaya is a narrow strip!

Perhaps the media misheard him. I think he said ".....my ami's beach" referring to a friends seaside resort..

And farang have to pay 100.000 baht fine when smoke sigarettes on beach. OMG only thai leave garbage on beach.  No charge for smoke sigarettes on Miami Beach and still is sparking CLEAN. NO PLASTIC everywhere either.

I think Weston-super-Mare is more apt.
