Rescued but seriously injured was a girl called Sirit, 16, thought to be the daughter of the deceased who was taken to Pho Thong Hospital, reported Naew Na.

A person who came to help with other locals after passing on a motorcycle said he saw the car swerving violently for some reason before it hit the sign and ended up in the canal.

Pho Thong police are investigating.
