Pho Thong police in Ang Thong, central Thailand, were called after a Nissan hit a roadside sign and plunged into a klong on the Pho Thong to Don Klang road adjacent to Wat Thang Phra.

Dead in the car was a boy called Sirawit, 11, and a woman called Sanga, 47, believed to be his mother.

Rescued but seriously injured was a girl called Sirit, 16, thought to be the daughter of the deceased who was taken to Pho Thong Hospital, reported Naew Na.

A person who came to help with other locals after passing on a motorcycle said he saw the car swerving violently for some reason before it hit the sign and ended up in the canal.

Pho Thong police are investigating.
