Crystal babies

Parents are being advised not to allow young children to play with “crystal babies”, which may be dangerous if they are swallowed.

“Crystal babies” are made from a jelly-like substance which expands when it absorbs water and has some characteristics of a toy. They can be dangerous to young children if swallowed.

The advice was posted on the Facebook page of Kat Kattaleeya, a mother whose child, Nakhun, had to undergo surgery to remove a “crystal baby” which he had swallowed.

Okay so these are dangerous and should not be allowed for sale for children,

but having said that parents should be aware of the thousands of other objects around the home etc that are possible choke hazards.

Educate the young ones not to put things in their mouth except food.

OP did you have kids?  Yes we can teach them and yes when we see them we can stop them BUT they all like to play with what they can see.

Remember toy soldiers and such.  While education is great the best method is not to buy this <deleted> and not leave things that are small where little hands can reach them.

Love these sorts of comments.....  utterly sanctimonious and devoid of any reality whatsoever...

As IF children follow each and every rule their parent has ever taught them to the absolute letter and with perfect.... Such wonderful perfect parents !!!....  (utter hypocrites in IMO)

The reality is Children push the boundaries, its simple human nature.

We had many rules, such as not putting non-food items in the mouth etc...  but watch any infant and the first thing they do is put something to their mouth, its instinct and the ‘mouth’ is one of the first sensory-touch areas to develop... try teaching against instinct to a baby !!!...

OR even an older child...  Just because we teach them it doesn’t mean they will automatically follow. It is a fundamentally flawed parenting mindset that is under this false impression that kids do everything their parents tell them, especially when unsupervised.

So, while we teach, we watch and protect too we can’t watch 100% of the time, so we take caution ensuring things like this are not in the house.

Then there are laws....  And the reasons laws should be in place banning such items and these ‘crystal babies’ is because there are two types of parents which are dangerous for children...

a) The type which never considers the risks or safety.

b) The type who believes because they teach their kids not to do something they assume the kids always follow.

Absolute tossers!

Jealous much.

I bet you don't consider this work.  Doing what they are doing is very highly skilled work that you wouldn't have the first clue how to do.

Are you absolutely barking???

KannikaP is a world renowned expert on 'putting lots of round things into a room'.

He has a master's first class from Cambridge for 'object placement'.

The only blot on his career was when he tried to fill St Paul's Cathedral with billiard balls, it was a step too far.

Furthermore, KannikaP's comment was not a slur on these talented room fillers, he was referring to the method that these guys were using to fill the room with round objects.

Some would place the round objects in the room, some would toss the spheres into the room, some would do both.

KannikaP was very accurate in calling these guys absolute tossers.
