After three years of travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, China has dropped a restriction on group tours to Thailand and 19 other countries as of Friday, January 20th, 2023 in a sudden announcement.

 

China had previously dropped overall individual international travel restrictions earlier this month.

 

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China made the announcement, which also included countries like Russia and New Zealand.

Zero dollar tours? Or what? Follow the flag holder?  Hope they started issuing passports if they expect to allow traveling.

Interesting. The Chinese govt restricted travel to/from China when Covid was high around the world. Now, most of the world has recovered for the most-part yet the virus still rages in China. Even still, China drops a travel restriction thus allowing their infected people to travel and reinfect the rest of the world for a 2nd time. Too bad the Chinese govt can't be held accountable for allowing Covid to begin in the first place.

They couldn’t care less. China should do the right thing: apologise and pay compensation to the rest of the world in the trillions. I would be happy for them all to P off to Venus, however.

The madness returns and Thailand will be celebrating, waving flags from the top of very building. China will save the economy.

The <deleted>tt hasn’t hit the fan yet. I can imagine the planes arriving full of passengers however the return flights being empty as they have all decided to escape the claws of China ???????? So I think the Chinese authorities will be watching closely  the first few flights that return to see how many people have absconded. I mean who would want to go back after 3 years of lockdowns and deprivation?

Well we are truly screwed right now. Not even considering the Covid infections they will bring, the roadwork in Pattaya is far from complete and once all of those buses hit the road you best get ready for complete gridlock. The traffic is horrendous as it is now without the tour buses. Just wait till they block 2nd road, beach road and Threppasit road. It’s going to be a nightmare. You’d think they would use a little common sense and wait till the roadwork is completed. Just shows their ignorance and greediness. Can’t fix stupid.

There has never been much common sense where roadworks has been involved.... they didn't get round to paving Walking  St until the tourists were already back... Sukhumvit North of town is a mess at the same time as ruddy great holes are being dug in the bypass....

90 million people infected. Over 20% of airport arrivals infected (eg South Korea). Perhaps Thailand is leaving itself vulnerable to another outbreak

     Well, they must have bought a lot of snacks because in 2019 the Chinese tourists dropped 531 billion baht in Thailand, the most by far of any country.  Contrary to popular myth, 61% were traveling independently and only 39% were in tour groups.   Obviously, far more businesses than 7-11 and Family Mart were benefitting, which is why Thailand is eager to have them back.

True no one country has seriously even try to hold them accountable I read over 20 trillion they have cost?  If the world hasn't learn from this that China has made us powerless economically. We are basically their bitch that includes Thailand near the top. 

To remain in power their protest and the world joining in to criticize Xi,  he gave the world this time what they wished.  Run Forest run!

As I read this, one of those annoying Chinese drum bands has been playing for the last two hours in an open lot below my apartment, terrorizing the local dogs, rehearsing for Chinese New Year celebrations and preparing to unleash their godawful racket on the rest of the city I presume. A long time ago I actually admired China and Chinese culture. Now I can't stand any part of it, other than some of their food.

 

The last three years in Thailand has been quite pleasant in many ways without them.

Shrimps and buffet tables are quaking with fear right about now.
