Where I'm from the UK they can't give the stuff away so I imagine there are huge supplies of near to expiry stock globally that needs to be used and developed nations will donate it as part of their aid packages.

But will be refused by China only theirs is acceptable to them. Hence the Chinese are coming here for a better vaccine.

  • Struggling tourism industry? The country is crawling with them! Maybe not everywhere but certainly in Bangkok. What does he mean by strict health protocols? Quarantines and mask mandates? That’s what

  • Bill Heinecke: "Crazy to give vaccines to tourists" May I suggest to mr. Heinecke, that a lower price on junk Food and Hotels would be a much better solution, to bring the tourists back to Thailand

  • Isn’t this the guy who wanted to jack up hotel room prices to line his own pockets?

I don't know about the rest of Thailand, but Pattaya is full of tourists. Makes a tear come to my eye when I think back to the quiet, halcyon days of 2021, lol.

Phukets busy. In Phang Nga now at Natai Beach resort.....empty except us...sweet.

Seems each time he is quoted, his ideas get further out there. Does anyone really care what he has to say? If what he is saying about the vaccines translates into "not enough Thais were given a chance to get the good vaccines", he might be right. But, even with the good ones, are any available within Thailand that are effective against the latest variants?

And perhaps he could figure out a way to improve the food at the Pizza Company.

Well he did want to double the prices for foreign guests. His food companies scaled back on  ingredients as well and the food became atrocious....

on another note, if you come here to get the Covid shot, shouldn't you get a medical visa ????

I've heard him often in the past 3 years

This guy is a complete dick.  Rich yes, but a dick nevertheless,  He needs to keep his big mouth shut and fade away.

I doublechecked the date of the OP -

Reads as if written about 2 years ago.

Seems like an expensive vaccine.. if you add the cost of airfares, accommodation etc, and many countries already offer free vaccines... and let's not forget, it takes a few weeks for a vaccine to take affect, so just what is the advantage of this "free" vaccine.

Every tourist should be given 1 large pizza per day, for the duration of their stay, kindly donated by the Pizza Company.

That would do wonders for tourism... Or maybe not. Certainly no Italians would take on this offer...

".....the government's plan to offer vaccines to foreign visitors is a step in the right direction, but it may not be enough to attract tourists back to the country."

Talk about stating the bleedin' obvious!

How about reducing air fares for a start? A one way ticket to Koh Samui from Bangkok is more than 5000 baht flying  Bangkok Air (with the OCCASIONAL exception) for a one hour flight!

And the flights from the West to Thailand have increased dramatically in price since the Covid restrictions eased - how about reducing the prices for airlines to land their planes at "Swampy"?

Giant eyerolls, every time Bill Heinecke feels the need to share his useless greedy opinions.
He seems to think the Thai government and the residents  care about what he has to say. That is laughable.

What is this!? 2021? I thought we were passed all this. Who the hell wants to get one of these shots in 2023? Why would anyone want to get one on their holiday?

Bill Heinecke: "Crazy to give vaccines to tourists"

Really?  Where exactly was he reported as saying that?

The OP did not reference it, neither did The Nation, nor the report on the same subject in the Bangkok Post.

He's been commenting fairly regularly, where have you been?

He might get more customers in the Coffee Club if he wasn’t charging very adult prices for very kids size portions.

Why not?  Other countries are doing this. It works both ways. What does he want? Let them pay for it? Getting none vaccinated Chinese into the country that is very smart!!!  The biggest problem Thailand had was their covid restrictions which were toggle "ON" and "OFF" and back "ON" again by the day, week, month. No one could rely on stable policy. It was just how the wind was blowing. That kept most people away from visiting Thailand. Did he not see how tourism was booming in Europe and in many countries outside Europe last year?

Aseannow Headline : “crazy to give vaccines to tourists”

What he actually said, according to the story a couple of paragraphs later, was : “ the government's plan to offer vaccines to foreign visitors is a step in the right direction”

So, is it crazy to go in the right direction then ?

Steady on, that's likely to incur the wrath of the OP!

The whole piece is so nonsensical it's difficult to know if Heinecke was talking nonsense or they've just totally misreported what he said. I suspect it's the latter.

It's the latter.

Would you trust your life or heath to Thais? Fake vaccine? Expired vaccine? Wrongly stored vaccine? How about complications after vaccine? What are the Thai documents worth, if get, to prove vaccination? How will it be received when Thai population is not fully  vaccinated but the dirty farangs get it for free...

Why should vaccination help tourism when after receiving vaccination you can feel sick and have fever for some days, would you do that in yoir holidays in a corrupt and unsafe place like Thailand, not if you come from a better place like central Europe...

How will they sell it to yhe unvaccinated Thais?'The dirty farangs need to be vaccinated because they make us sick??'

"Would you trust your life or heath to Thais? Fake vaccine? Expired vaccine? Wrongly stored vaccine? How about complications after vaccine? What are the Thai documents worth, if get, to prove vaccination?"

Unmitigated garbage.

This article can't be current. it makes no sense.

"with only a small percentage of the population having received the vaccine so far."

Definitely not true in January of 2023

So the headline has him stating it's "Crazy" but the text says, he thinks that "the government's plan to offer vaccines to foreign visitors is a step in the right direction, but it may not be enough ...".

We're clearly being manipulated here.

He is talking nonsense:

"Heinecke also highlighted that the vaccine rollout in Thailand has been slow, with only a small percentage of the population having received the vaccine so far."

More than 79.5% has at least 1 vaccination as of Sep-30 2022: Thailand: Coronavirus Pandemic Country Profile - Our World in Data

Is he?  Since when has having just one shot been accepted as the correct vaccination protocol?

Sure, it's another Bill, a Philanthropist

He was mindful of the advice "Best to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt ".

But now he’s just confirmed the second part of that saying….  ????‍♂️

Thanks Bill, did you go to Davos this year?

Heinecke also highlighted that the vaccine rollout in Thailand has been slow, with only a small percentage of the population having received the vaccine so far.
This means that there is still a high risk of infection in the country, which could deter potential tourists.

Only if the "vaccines" stop transmission.....which they don't. Heinecke is simply propagating a narrative that has no factual basis.
Thanks for the list of Minor's business as now I know where not to support his bottom line.

I think that he's right for short stay tourists .

How quickly does the vaccine work and how long does the protection last? It generally takes 1-2 weeks following COVID-19 vaccination for the body to build immunity against the virus. Duration of protection differs per vaccine and may be influenced by who receives it.
