On a recent trip to Perth WA to celebrate my sons wedding I saw non of that. Restraunt pubs and such were busy and plentiful patrons spending  on average $AU50 per plate for lunchs etc. Admittedly most likely the mining sector was the reason in that area.  Same tho for supermarkets and general shopping, fast foods etc.
