Change of expiry/renewal date for 1 year NON IMM O extension.

Recommended Posts

Due to my ignorance I went for my 1 year extension in November (for a visa dated December), not realising the implications of my passport expiring in July.
They only gave me an extension to July 26, the date my passport expires. ( I have since acquired a new passport)

So I thought I would go and get a new extension in the 45 day period they allow preceding the expiry.

I assumed I would get an extension to the visa dated in December, but that seems incorrect.

As far as I can tell they will do the extension for 1 year from July 26th.

This is a problem for me as I usually spend May - August in Canada. This date does not work for me getting extensions.

So I guess I could just leave as usual and get a new Non-Imm O on my return to Thailand next fall.

But I was wondering if there was a way to change that expiry date to something compatible with my travel dates?

I see on the TM7 a line that says "I hereby apply for extension period of temporary stay in the Kingdom for……………days"

Does anyone know if that can be used to alter the expiry / renew date?

Nope, you burned that bridge.

No way to move it in country.

Leave without a reentry, get a new 90 day non o before come back,

or

just come back visa exempt and apply for the non o 90 day in country at your immigration office for 2000 baht. Then 2 months after you get that, do the retirement extension for 1900

Although that second option you'll have to work out the timing so you're here when the extension comes due

One year I got a 60 day extension.  You could try explaining your situation to them and see if they would give you 60 day extension to move the date to September.  If they do that though you still have to pay the 1,900 for the 60 days and then again for the year extension.

@rwill That year you got the 60 day extension, did you apply for another extension when it expired?

If so, was it for one year? and did it expire 1 year from that extension date or from the original?

Also, was it a non-imm O visa?

Before the 60 day extension I got a new 1 year extension which started from the end of the 60 day extension.  So it moved my yearly extension date from the beginning of Dec to the end of Jan.

My extension expiry used to be just before Christmas. A couple of years ago my wife was away during that time so I went to immigration and asked if I could get an extension.

They gave me a 30 day extension (for 1900 baht) which manifested itself in my passport as another "under consideration" stamp dated 30 days after the one before Christmas. Since then my extension expiry has been mid January, which is much more convenient.

This was at the infamous Jomtien office.

I left out the word expired.  Before my 60 day extension expired I got a new 1 year extension.
