INN Thai Caption: Devastating fire claims life of 82 year old grandfather

INN reported on a house fire in Wisetchaichan district of Ang Thong, central Thailand, that claimed the life of an 82 year old man.

Bang Chak police captain Phaitoon Prathum had alerted fire services after getting a report of the blaze in the Wat Si Roi community.

Ten fire engines attended the scene where concerned neighbors and relatives had gathered fearing for the safety of Somwang Jandaeng, 82, who had got trapped as the fire spread quickly.

He was found dead.

His daughter Jarunee said she saw smoke coming from an uninhabited room while she was cooking.

She had opened a door and tried to extinguish a fire to no avail and the victim's grandson had similarly been unable to help the old man get out as the flames took hold.

Tragic circumstances to be a spectator in this fire.
