Tourist taking pictures at Phu Thap Buek ignored warning signs - fell down cliff

Sanook Thai Caption: A lesson not to ignore warning signs

 

Sanook reported that a tourist at the highest point in the holiday area of Phu Thap Buek in Phetchabun, NE Thailand, fell down a cliff ignoring warning signs as he was taking photos.

 

It's a 50-60 meter drop. Ruam Katanyu rescue attended as seen in a video as the man was taken to hospital. Information contained with the video suggested he was from Pathum Thani.

 

It happened at a place where there is a giant thermometer at a scenic viewing point 1,768 meters above sea level.

 

A sign says "Danger don't cross the fence - No littering".

 

The victim was recued in a one hour operation. He was still conscious and taken to hospital.

 

The media said the victim was a 46 year old man who had asked someone to take a photo of him over the fence.

 

As he moved back and put two fingers up in the standard pose he fell before a picture could be taken.

 

The 20 year old man who had been asked to take the snaps took 2 or three but the last one he didn't - the guy fell before he could press the shutter.

There are so many dangers in Thailand that have no warning signs.   

 

 If a warning sign is posted I'd pay special attention to it.

The theory of natural selection, means we all have to exhibit certain survival skills, to thrive in this world. Self protection is just one of those skills. Some have it, some do not.
