10 years under Prayut Thailand lost money, opportunities and time – Pita Limjaroenrat

Move Forward Party Leader Pita Limjaroenrat

Thailand, under the leadership of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, is a decade of lost money, opportunity and precious time, said Move Forward Party Leader Pita Limjaroenrat in the ongoing Opposition debate against the current administration.

Emphasising the importance of this final such debate of the current parliament, he said that even though there is no vote at the end of the two-day debate, the session will offer the people some food for thought about how they should vote when they enter the polling booths in the months to come.

For almost a decade under the military junta and then the Prayut administration, Pita said the government has spent a whopping 28 trillion baht of taxpayers’ money, but Thailand’s competitiveness has fallen to 7th place among ASEAN countries and the corruption perception index (CPI) ranking has fallen from 85th in 2014 to 110th place last year, behind Vietnam which is making steady progress.

Drought-stricken areas have increased from 640,000 hectares in 2014 to 2.24 million hectares last year, he said, adding that the government’s slogan, that there is no drought under the Prayut administration, is just a fantasy.

Could not be more wrong. This post shows your utter cluelessness of the political situation in Thailand over the past 20 years. The years under Thaksin were boomin’. No years with Thaks

seems the junta crew,  Chinese criminals, a few corrupt RTP officers, some Immi boys and unscrupulous foreigners driving taxis have been enjoying economic benefits

It's been building for years, the last sveral years so many reports re police involvement difficult to count them. And now the negative reports re massive scam / police ownership again and again from Chuwit makes your eyes water.  And then there's the beyond belief red bull case.  More police invetigation orderd again and again, nothing happens therefore no results.

What has the PM done? Nothing, totally nothing.

How can he not do something?

How can he just ignore it all

A lot SEEMS to be done by talking and vowing, but no actual action is taken, why? because many of those wrong doers keeping the junta where they are, in power...

Add to that the lost decades before that, when Thaksin was in charge, that is obviously bad news.

Imagine the judges would have removed Thaksin right away when he made those "honest mistakes" at the beginning of his premiership. No years with Thaksin, no coups, all could have been wonderful.

This article is fake news.

The Constitution Court ruled in 2022 that Prayut was NOT PM 2014-2018.

A decade of nothing but they have put the country back two decades in reality.

It will take  along time to turn the national economy around to give the young generation real job opportunities.

Instead of the girls heading to the beaches to prop up the GDP and the boys on the dole.

I feel sorry for those graduating into a vacuum.

When Prayuth came in power everybody was positive that there would be some changes for the best of the country and its people, However after 2 years everybody started to complain that his promisses were nothing than hot air, and the country went down, the economy, the tourist sector already, and nothing was done....It is sad that the country is thrown back instead went forward under this regime.. And still nothing is changing and happiness for away, as I hear from many Thai people.... And the PM thinks he did a good job, but watch him if he get difficult questions, or critics... He doesn't act as an adult politician. It will cost a lot of money and time to rebuilt the country, but it is very difficult as long as the army and its backup stay in power....

And they want to continue the plunder in the forthcoming election.

Anyone in charge would have struggled during the Covid shutdowns.

The ones in charge, aka the government, did not struggle, they thrived.

Business owners, employees, they struggled.

The years under Thaksin were boomin’.

No years with Thaksin as PM would just be adding to the years of lost money, opportunity and progress for Thailand.

The people yearn for a return to democratic leadership, morons yearn for a continuation of the disastrous military rule.

Why is PT favoured to win the most seats in the upcoming election?

Yes, I agree, I felt that when I arrived here in 2004 to live....... his picture was everywhere and the country has a sense of optimism. I recall a bar girl telling me 'When you come before, Thailand poor, now not!' The new airport got opened at long last!

Remember when, right after the coup, he promised he would stay on only temporarily as acting PM?

someone needs to put a montage together of all the promises he has made over the years.  rent a digital sign in downtown bkk to show it all on repeat.

A post with charts that were copy and pasted from some source without providing a link to the source of the charts has been removed as well as a reply.

Give your obsession a rest mate.

This mob have been much worse than decades of successive Thaksin governments ever would have been.

I wasn't.

I was fully aware his power grab was entirely for self-enrichment and preservation of the entrenched elite that a populist Thaksin party has threatened since his election in 2001.

Even before the coup, he promise "No coup'. Lost decade under him. He got to go.

Generals make disastrous political leaders.

If you compare with the previous governments, Yingluck, Abhisit, Samak, etc. they did well by not doing much.
So it could be worse.

......... the government has spent a whopping 28 trillion baht of taxpayers’ money. Thailand’s competitiveness has fallen to 7th place among a total of ten ASEAN countries. Corruption went up 25 ranks on the world's corruption scale over the last nine years. Drought-stricken areas increased to 2.24 million from 640,000 hectares some nine years ago ....

Unless a miracle happens, the same swines will feasts, possibly with a difference in pecking order, on the very same troughs refilled regularly by the uneducated electorate called tax payers .......
