PM’s party lashes out at MP Rangsiman Rome’s ‘irresponsible’ revelations in parliament last week
by Joseph O' Connor

image.jpeg

Bangkok MP Rangsiman Rome of the Move Forward Party ruffled many feathers last week with sensational corruption claims. These have struck a chord at a time when the kingdom is rocked by a crisis of confidence over corruption, both within the Royal Thai Police and among top officials. One of his claims related to a wealthy Thai senator who he alleges owns the land on which the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC)’s headquarters is located. This is the political party behind General Prayut’s bid to be reelected as PM. The allegation was condemned by party officials on Monday as irresponsible and misleading to the public. It comes after General Prayut strongly rejected claims that he had failed to combat corruption.

Series of sweeping and serious allegations made by the MP in parliament who is known for his progressive politics has already led to one defamation lawsuit issued by a senior senator with reports that others are also readying to take legal action against him.
