Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said he is a native son of the north-east son and urged its people not to desert him, as he unveiled some of the United Thai Nation Party’s policies at a campaign rally held in the north-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima on Saturday night.

 

He said that he was born in the Suranaree military barracks in Nakhon Ratchasima and moved to Lop Buri Province and Bangkok with his parents, but “wherever I am, I am always a descendent of Ya Mo (Thao Suranaree, the heroine of Nakhon Ratchasima).”

 

“Will you accept me? Do not desert me. I am a north-easterner,” said the prime minister, as he addressed thousands of people at a rally held in front of the provincial hall.

Yes Cha Cha we all hope you will be deserted and rejected, to the fullest extent possible. You have failed the people on countless levels. And besides, what have you done for the common man in Issan? Besides put many of them out of work. 

 

And don't you remember your promise to be caretaker PM, for only 2 years, then turn over the helm to someone who is both capable and has leadership ability? What happened? Did the power and the wealth get to your head? I guess so. 

But, there was nobody capable of replacing me to ensure Thailand and all its people were in good hands and treated with the fairless and care due to them after lead so far astray by the criminals Thaksin and his sister. My personal sacrifice to all the good people of Thailand has been a heavy burden for me to carry all these years  but it was done solely for your benefit, so please consider my efforts when it comes time to vote.

the son who did not take care of this region in the last 8 years and of the whole country... Now he needs the people, but I hope they will abandon him too..

True. People from Korat speaks the Korat dialect which has about 500k native speakers. The dialect is a cross between mainly Central Thai with some Lao admixture. My wife is from Korat born and raised and she and her family never refers to themselves as Issan natives.

A lot of nonsense about "NE".

Of course it is about Isan (Isaan, ... countless transcripts).

And like it or not it is often referred as the North East.

Not a geography lesson.

Isan is the Korat plateau. Culturally closer to Laos than to the Siamese masters/conquerors.

Of course Korat is Isan, what else.
