The time has come that those apprehended by the U.K. police forever should have all travel documents / passports taken from them whilst further investigations are taking place

same for Thailand, for goodness sake, it's even more of a joke here in the LOS, when you think of who 'slipped away' in the night.

I suspect they are requested to turn them in.... but since they have been convicted of nothing yet, I am not sure that it is obligatory. Certainly a concern that dangerous suspects can hop on a plane at Heathrow.

Why comment when you know nothing!

Thanks. An interesting read. No mention of stopping or detaining fugitives from leaving, but rather a tool to detect those incoming or flag up those foreigners who have overstayed visas.

It states information will be 'of use' to police. Having an outstanding arrest warrant doesn't stop anyone leaving (or entering) the UK. Border Force are not police.

innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, that is one right no one wants changed.

Or even granting bail [a more common approach with most everything these days] if the authorities are concerned with the individual to take flight. Why do they authorize/offer bail situations for what might be considered heinous crimes?
