Real estate tycoon Srettha Thavisin made clear today (Friday) that he will not accept any ministerial portfolio other than that of prime minister if the Pheu Thai Party becomes the core party in a new government coalition after the election.

Srettha, who was recently appointed chief advisor to Paetongtarn Shinawatra, head of the “Pheu Thai family”, explained that, as a Thai citizen, he believes he can be useful to Thailand and the prime minister is powerful and important enough to get the jobs done.

Asked by a reporter whether his statement means that he will not accept any political post short of the top job, he responded “No, I will not accept.”

That will put PaeThongtarn's nose out of joint.

He'll require special permission and blessings...

Two sides of the same coin.  One is carrot the other is stick.

Best thing he could do for the country his give his money away or fund supporting the poor. Give them a chance. Set up an organisation to finish educating them to enter the workforce.

Is he saying he's super rich already and has no need to plunder the country any further subliminally ????

The only politician that has government experience all his life was Ahbisit. He was a career politician who never work in any private sector. Well he didn’t fare that well as appointed Prime Minister.

Or maybe she will be happy to be relieved of the pressure of being PM given that she knows she has no experience whatever to take into the job. What must also be on her mind is 'how long before i'm the next shin to be forced out by a coup or whatever'.

Don't know whatever made her think she could do it in the first place. More likely Daddy exploring opportunities.

Her name is on the ballot for a reason???? It's nothing to do with her being PM.

In other words daddies cannon fodder / daddies guarantee to keeping a finger in the trough / daddies way of controlling the pheu thai 'gang', who are his cronies / partners in crime but could if they wanted push him out, but right now still too frightened to do so.

From many levels including the highest...

The question is , who can do a better job than the present PM, and make a go of it ? Any thoughts ?
( please don’t say the «  one » we all don’t like who wants the job).

I would rather see Pae Thongtarn's face everywhere than his.

It doesn't matter who the next or any PM get's into office, there will always be some soldier who will start a coup after seeing how well the present unelected PM has fared.

Personally, I would like the Thai people themselves to start an non violent protest of some sort when the next coup comes.

"Real estate tycoon Srettha Thavisin made clear today (Friday) that he will not accept any ministerial portfolio other than that of prime minister if the Pheu Thai Party becomes the core party in a new government coalition after the election."

Real estate developer. His purpose is obvious, push for special deals, reductions in taxes etc., etc., for his industry and especially his own quite large company.

As he's stated he doesn't want to be bothered by any other subjects

In a couple of words 'unethical greed'.
