Switching from 45 day visa waiver to already obtained non-o

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I received my non-o (divorced, visiting my son) after my arrival and would like to switch it up. The non-o has me staying with my ex but I'm actually staying at a nearby hotel. The non-o is valid until May 8.

I'd love your advice on getting this done as cheaply as possible and without the help of my ex if possible??

Thanks so much.

You can stay wherever you like.

Do you plan on applying for extension?

Your post is confusing. Where did you acquire the Non O visa? Did you apply via the e-visa site? If you have an e-visa, the only way to get the 90-day permission to stay from the visa (which you will subsequently extend one year at a time) is by leaving and returning to Thailand. This initial step is straightforward, requiring no help from anyone. However, the subsequent one-year extensions will be trickier, and you should discuss them with your local immigration office.

Thanks for replying. I apologize for the confusing post. Let me be more clear.

I applied, via e-visa, for a non-o to come visit my son. I did this 6 weeks before my scheduled flight. I did not receive the visa prior to travelling to Thailand. I landed in Bangkok without the visa and received a 45 day tourist visa. The airport officials informed me to apply the non-o visa at the local immigration office once received. I received the visa a week later.

* Not sure how relevant this is but the address I used for the visa was my ex wife's home but I am staying at a nearby hotel.

* quick note: I forgot to check-in with immigration upon my arrival. Yeah, I'm an idiot.

So, the ex and I went to the local immigration office and was told 1) pay 2000bht and get it done or 2) show proof of checking out at the hotel and pay 0. Not going into any detail, let's just say I'm broke, so didn't want to pay the 2000bht. Nothing was accomplished that day.

Now, I've gotten real lucky, steady income will start coming in near the end of the month and long story short, I'm dating the hotel owner. To avoid any jealousy, I do not want to use the ex for the visa and I do not want to interrupt the new girlfriend's (hotel owner) daily routine, she's extremely busy. I might have to though, as it looks like she'd have to come with me to the immigration office to sign off on some papers.

So, I thought to come to you guys quickly, looking for any advice on how to keep this cheap and getting it done alone before asking my local immigration office for advice.

The tourist visa runs out March 23rd, I won't be getting paid in time and I'll be even more broke ????.

The non-o is valid until May 8th.

Hope you enjoyed that 555.
