webfact Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 by Gerry Carter Highlight of day one at the Six Red Snooker World Championships was the 5-0 demolition of English snooker great Jimmy White, 60, by Thai player Thepchaiya Un-Nooh. Thepchaiya, 37, delighted the mainly Thai crowd with his silky skills delivered with lightning panache. Several mistakes by White were punished with ruthless efficiency in a drubbing that lasted about 35 minutes. Earlier compatriot Dechawat Poomjaeng, 44, had mounted a stirring comeback from 1-4 down to level an afternoon match against Englishman Chris Wakelin, the recent winner of the Shootout in England. Wakelin, however, maintained his composure to pip the Thai in the final frame decider 5-4 as the matched stretched to almost three hours. Another standout game was Ding Junhui from China against Thailand's former female world champion Mink Nutcharut, 23. Ding raced into a 3-0 lead only for Mink to make a strong recovery going down 5-2 after a cagey final frame she might have won with fewer mistakes and more experience. Still, it was a joy to see such a female talent go toe-to-toe with one of the greatest players in the game. Tickets are readily available at the venue starting at 300 baht that includes admission to all four sessions at 11am, 1.30pm, 4pm and 6.30pm. prices increase later in the tournament that reaches its final on Saturday when a 4.2 million baht prize is up for grabs. It is being held at the Thammasat University Convention Centre in Pathum Thani on the road that leads to the outer ring road from Rangsit. The round robin of matches in eight groups continues for the next two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) after which the top two from Groups A-H will make up the last 16, Highlight tomorrow will undoubtedly be the first appearance of Ronnie "The Rocket" O'Sullivan from England who will take on compatriot Jimmy Robertson in Group H at 6.30pm. These matches are best of nine frames in the 6 red format that usually makes for a quicker outcome than the standard 15 red game. There are no mid session intervals. At 1.30 pm Tuesday Mink will take on reigning champion Stephen Maguire of Scotland while Judd Trump of England plays Thailand's Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn at 4pm. Amateur teenager Stan Moody, 16, of England takes on Thai veteran James "Tong" Wattana, 53, at 6.30 pm. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-03-07 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. mikebell Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I thought Ding & other Chinese players were banned for match fixing or is this OK in Thailand?

Yes, seen him there, and he also does a match at double kiss in Hua Hin. Last time was about two years ago, about 2,000 Baht to play a frame.

Raybangkok Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 A pity that the officials could not pay attention to the match. The phone and talking was more important.
