What are Malaysia and Vietnam doing differently?

Malaysia still has a lot of rain forests, so no farmer there wants to burn something.  Also in parts now rainy season and flooding

It's pretty sad...

If folks aren't going to wear N95 masks to help protect themselves from COVID, they certainly should want to be wearing them to protect themselves from THIS kind of unhealthy air in Bangkok and elsewhere!

But among the tourist folks I see around BKK lately, very few are.

I'm actually pleased with that. All those iron lungs tourists filtering our air at least a little bit, else it might be even worse. And by the time they develop cancer, they'll be back to their homes anyway so no need to treat them either.

Just look at the big companys that profitt from the sugarcane industri then you will know why the dum dum Prayuth not gonna do anything too stop the burning , but hey him shut down the country for the covid flu what a dum dum.

That's the only way they can remain competitive in the world market and how a small county like Thailand remains one of the worlds top rice exporters.

Looking at the pollution map, it seems that lots of fires are also happening in Cambodia and Laos.

Maybe it is Asia that has a big issue with burning the leaves off of their crops is a problem for

all of Asia. Is crop burning also the reason for Dhaka Bangladesh to have a 273 reading, or Patna India

to have 237 reading?  Just wondering

Wow, what happened to Bangkok air quality today? It had been steadily improving recently, but today's a huge step backwards.  Downtown Bangkok Sukhumvit area is registering well above 100 µg/m3

Does seem strange. Currently 157 US AQI in Bangkok - worse than Chiang Mai.

all of Asia

Some doctor I went to see in Nakhon Phanom was complaining how Thai companies set up coal-fired electric plants in Laos not thinking that the wind would blow the pollution back into Thailand. You also have the countries that process raw material (like Thailand and China) buying those products from the poorer countries, so they don't have to deal with the pollution. So yes, an Asian problem.
