Thai man arrested for robbing food vendor in Bang Lamung
Pattaya police apprehended a 51 year old Thai man accused of robbing a street food vendor while pretending to place an order. The suspect was arrested just hours after the incident. Police officers from Bang Lamung Police Station arrested the suspect, Sakon, at 9pm on Wednesday, September 18, at his residence in the Eua Athon Naklua housing estate in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. At the time of his arrest, Sakon was preparing to take a shower and was found wearing only a towel. During the search of Sakon’s residence, police discovered some of the stolen items hidden in a bag and the clothing worn during the robbery. A black Honda PCX motorbike used in the crime was also found at the house. Sakon confessed to the crime and was taken to Bang Lamung Police Station. The victim, Krathiam, a 52 year old food vendor, identified Sakon as the robber. She recounted that Sakon had concealed his face with a motorbike helmet, placed a food order in the morning, and later stole her belongings, including two mobile phones, watches, and other valuables, under the pretence of heading to a nearby convenience store. CCTV footage captured Sakon riding a motorcycle, changing clothes, and then returning to his room after the robbery. Sakon has a criminal history, with four prior convictions related to theft and drugs. He claimed that he committed the crime out of desperation after losing his job, reported Pattaya News. Currently, Sakon is being held by police as they proceed with legal action. By Puntid Tantivangphaisal Photo courtesy of Pattaya News Source: The Thaiger -- 2024-09-20 -

Krabi Airport: Woman Lying on Baggage Belt Inappropriate, Not Illegal
Reminds me of an incident during the group stages of the 2002 world cup. Scotland were playing Croatia in Zagreb, and the Tartan Army, aka The Scottish Supports Club were in full attendance. Result was 1 all, so Scotland still in with a chance with much bonhomie all round. A leading member of the Tartan Army (a renowned lawyer, no names mentioned) somewhat ratarsed when presented with the airport X-Ray machine on the way back; wearing full Highland dress decided to speed things up by diving himself head first though without removing any of his full tartan regalia, kilt pin, sporran, sgian-dubh as well as a couple of ceremonial swords. The event and copies of the X-Ray pictures were hilarious but never made it to the national press or Social Media. Such was the ability at the time for self editing, not so today amongst today's 'Like me, Like me' generations. -

Homeless Woman Using Illegal Drugs Openly on Pattaya Street Raises Concerns Over City Image
The story is a good illustration of why governments have never won a "war on drugs" anywhere in the world. When people with mental health issues are left to live on the streets, one cannot be surprised if they want to deaden the pain. -
