The R1 is the lastest shape a few years old now but he took it to a buddy who tunes bikes on Dyno machinery.

From memory he changed the exhaust system.

Did stuff to injection system.

Messed with the ICU and got it to i think 187 bhp.

To get more HP or more speed engine mods would be needed but his happy as it is and does track days mostly on it.

For me, the thing about doing very high speeds is not being caught by the cops for speeding, it's the danger from other road users. One might pull out in front of you, change lanes, or simply do something you don't expect because they don't see you coming. When you're doing 2, 3 or 4 times their speed, it might be difficult for you to adjust your position or speed in time.

A Yamaha YL1 in black was my first bike - GBP169.00 if I remember correctly.

At the time it's homegrown competition in the UK was the BSA Bantam - my riding buddy had one and it was like an antique in comparison.

Less than a year later and I had an actual DL. My dad payed for half of this 1967 Kawasaki 350 Avenger.

My second bike was the 250 version in an amazing pearlescent white - called the A1 Samurai.

The disc-valve induction helped it to a genuine 100mph - the slightly later triples could barely hit 90, but looked much better.

OK I went off topic for a couple of posts because was asked but what you say is for another thread.

That said my Blade in Thailand is a classic that can top out 170mph and can be done on a highway near us.

What classic bikes can do a standing start 1/4 mile in 10•4 secs.

In the 1980s, I owned a Z1000 J2. I much prefer the 70s and 80s style of motorbike to the modern styles.

Yes the Z1000 was a good bike and many bikers and ex-bikers still like the style.

Liked my 1200 Bandit but without a screen, high speed was uncomfortable.

Always been a super sportsbike fan.

I had a Z1000R - the Eddie Lawson Replica model; unfortunately the ones sent to New Zealand were white rather than Kawasaki green. Good bike of its time, comfortable tourer and I had some success drag racing at local events

I think if I could have only 1 bike. It would be a tough decision. It comes down to availability

I had a really beat up Montesa back in the early 70's.  Probably this model.  After I patched it up, I traded it for a Honda S600 hardtop coupe which needed work.  Not sure of the year on either one but probably 1966.

When I was impressionable we had S800

I never was a speed freak, quite happy to sit on a motorway doing 70-80 mph, use to on my BMWR65.

But this T160 would have been my bike of choice of bike ,........just something about it.

Brought up with Rudge and Triumphs, idiot management of UK bike industry mess it up, I was glad when the Japanese bike industry got it right.
