Gang activity just across the Thai border of Mae Sai in Tachilek, Myanmar freaked netizens at the weekend.

A video posted online showed a group of Chinese debt collectors abducting a woman from a shop in the Chinese business district.

The black clad men comprising four individuals toted war weapons menacingly.

Thai Rath reported that gang activity including extortion and gold shop robbery was rife in the area with Myanmar authorities fighting a battle with people of influence.

The media found cross border trade operating normally. The border had been closed for three years because of the pandemic but was now thriving with no concern shown about the latest violence just 7-8 kms from Thailand.

The Mae Sai police chief Pol Col Phiphat Naradech said that his information suggested that the abduction was of an employee of the shop and not the owner and was a case of mistaken identity.

The woman was later released by the gang.

Enjoy your smoothies and ride the elephants.  Remember to take selfies and post everywhere!   Farangs are totally blind to anything negative near or in LOS

You're not incorrect but so shallow. You live under a military government, hundreds up on extremely frivolous and fraudulent political charges. This is routine. Corruption amongst the cops, army, pols is rife. Yet, here YOU are.
