Police in the central province of Nakhon Pathom have officially ended the search for a baby boy who has been missing since February 5. The 8 month old baby, known as “Nong Tor”, is now known to be dead, after his mother confessed that he died while in her care in the district of Bang Len.

The mother has told investigating officers that she placed the boy’s body in a canal, following his death. Deputy national police chief Surachate Hakparn says there is a chance the baby’s body has already been eaten by reptiles. However, he says there does not have to be a body in order for a murder case to proceed.

According to Surachate, investigating officers believe they have enough sufficient evidence, including statements made by the mother, to charge her and 3 other suspects. The deputy national police chief says the investigation has now concluded and the case will be forwarded to the public prosecution.
