Just wondering if anyone knows of the time it takes for spouse visa to be approved? As my g/f is in Australia and she has 3 months before she has to leave country, Under her visa conditions, Can she travel in and out of Australia after they approve her spouse visa?

How long does it take until she is allowed to work in Australia?

Thanks for any information................Tinytot..

Your girlfriend can't have a tourist visa and a spouse visa running concurrently. In other words, if she applies for a spouse visa whilst her tourist visa is still active, the Embassy will hold their decision making processes on the spouse visa until she returns to Thailand at the completion of her tourist visa.

A spouse visa decision can be made within 24 hours provided the medical check and the police clearance have been done and the application is strong and complete, and the application was lodged at the Embassy.

If you lodge the application at the vfs office you may have to wait for up to three months, average time though is about six weeks.

Once her spouse visa has been approved she can start work immediately upon entry to Australia. Her Medicare card will take a few weeks to be issued but she will be covered whilst she waits.

She will be able to come and go to and from Oz as often as she wishes....but why would she want to leave? :o
