Business as usual in Mae Sai district as residents struggle with dust and smoke

As PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai Province exceeded 710 microns this morning (Monday), it was business as usual for most residents, despite advice that they should stay indoors. Most were wearing face masks however.

Ativat Janmuangthai, a skilled cannabis enthusiast and Phuketian, won the title of the “fastest joint-roller” in Phuket, Thailand. Janmuangthai rolled a perfect one-gram joint in just 43 seconds, beating out other roll-your-own ‘experts’.

Thai Drivers Urged to Pay Overdue Traffic Fines by April or Face Multiple Penalities

Patong fight between restaurant staff and foreign tourists

A group of foreign tourists is being sought by the police after they assaulted staff at a restaurant in Soi San Sabai around 1am this morning. According to reports, the tourists, who are believed to be Jordanians and at least one Egyptian, were drunk, agitated and unruly when they were asked to queue properly.

Starting from April 1 until June 30, annual fishing restrictions kick in along the Andaman coast in Thailand, specifically including the offshore of Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi and, further south, Trang. The objective of the ban is to allow fish stocks to recover during the spawning season, which peaks in June each year with an average density of 1,197 fish spawn per 1,000 cubic metres of water.

Five Vietnamese arrested with about 103kg of Agarwood at border checkpoint

Thai park rangers have arrested five Vietnamese nationals as they tried to flee into Laos with 103.5kg of Agarwood chips, thought to have been stolen from Thailand’s Phu Khiao Wildlife Sanctuary in the north-eastern province of Chaiyaphum.
