What to make of Kim Jong Un and North Korea's barrage of weapon tests

Admittedly it is hard to keep track of North Korea's missile launches these days.

Especially when they fire a weapon almost every other day, as we have seen over the past fortnight.

The launches in isolation no longer generate the headlines they used to, but if we look at the latest tests all together there is much we can learn.

North Korea says it is punishing the US and South Korea for holding their largest military drills in years. The allies have been practising how to defeat the North in the event of an attack. This is not a scenario its leader Kim Jong Un relishes.

Only this is not a typical North Korean protest. In the past it has responded to such drills by firing off a mix of short, medium, and long-range missiles, and perhaps some artillery shells.

Sure do miss the former Potus deescalation attempts  with rocket man . The world in general was a much safer place  compared to now, under this moron. I wonder if rocket man would ever consider meeting 46.

The love letters didn't work, Trump walked away.........

North Korea said it had made "realistic proposals" at the summit.

The two leaders had been expected to announce progress on denuclearisation.

"Sometimes you have to walk and this was one of those times," Mr Trump said.

If by facing the issue head on you mean giving Kim the attention and respect he craved, then yes.

Its better to talk to people and seek a compromise , rather than fighting wars .

If they've got something to offer. But you don't give someone like Kim an audience with the POTUS in exchange for nothing. That's what subordinates are for. Just another empty, grandiose negotiating failure.

Does Kamala Harris have any plans to meet with Kim and to continue the dialogue started by Trump and seek a peaceful solution ?

It was Kim who refused to accept the terms offered and he wouldn't sign the papers , Trump tried to convince Kim to agree to the terms .

Had Kim agreed to the terms , there would have been a signed peace deal .

Trump wasn't successful in getting a peace agreement signed , but it certainly wasn't  publicity stunt , it was a genuine attempt at getting a peace agreement signed

What peace terms were offered by Trump? The only offer was to take Kim home on Air Force One.

It was a private meeting and I wasn't invited , so I don't know the details of the discussion

Meeting ended with the usual routine run of the mill joint statement about follow-up negotiation. That's it. No peace terms and neither was Trump involved in follow-up talks. Really a much published meeting that ended with a whimper.

Trump left his job as President so there were no more meetings between the two  .

Kim refused to sign the agreement

Can you share with us a link to the agreement you claim is embodied in certain papers? I can't find evidence of that. The only signing I know of is the Singapore Agreement which was empty of any concrete significance. And Kim and Trump did sign that.

It is official protocol to behave in a dignified way  .

Would you have applauded Trump of if had stuck his middle finger up to Kim and called him all sorts of rude names , maybe threw a few pot plants at him in full view of the media ?

Trump wouldent know protocols if they fell on his head that particular incident was the most (to me) visible example of his utter ignorance of protocol on that particular fiasco other than being up on kims leg like a puppy ???? dog remember when he said no more war games (practice) with s Korea remember?for absolutely nothing gained?nothing!just flushing years of sanctions down the toilet.

So, how should Trump have publicly greeted Kim when he first met him ?

(Taking into consideration that the two were about to engage in a meeting that Trump hoped would end in an agreement ?)

Kim is lonely and misses Trump! Maybe if Trump was in power all 3 counties could test their missiles together and there would be no war games.

he must be getting low on all the old stock by now..time for his underwater drones
