Former US president Donald Trump is "gearing up for a battle" ahead of his scheduled court hearing on Tuesday, his lawyer has said.

Mr Trump is expected to fly to New York City from his Mar-a-Lago home on Monday to face charges related to hush money payments made to a porn star.

He then plans to return to Florida following his court hearing, where he will address his supporters.

Mr Trump has continued to deny any wrongdoing.

His lawyer, Joe Tacopina, promised that any charges against the former president will be fought vigorously.

"He's someone who's going to be ready for this fight," Mr Tacopina told ABC's This Week programme on Sunday.

"We're ready for this fight. And I look forward to moving this thing along as quickly as possible to exonerate him."

Media reports have said that Mr Trump will be facing more than 30 charges related to business fraud over a $130,000 (£105,000) pay-out to Stormy Daniels in 2016 that was made in an attempt to buy her silence over an alleged affair.

These charges are so stupid I don't think Trump evens needs a lawyer. Anything to get Trump, is there no shame left here in this world?

There's 30 counts, you know what all the charges are then?

The law will follow it’s course the jury will decide old Donnie will whail and bleat play victim and grift his rubes as he continues to humiliate our nation I sincerely hope the judge puts a gag order on it so we don’t have to hear Donnie and his nonsense.man up Donnie do the trial the chips will fall were they may

I share your disgust with Donald Dump but contrary to you, I hope all the proceedings are televised.

I often watch court proceedings from gavel to gavel.     I know of no better way to cut through media BS than to witness everything  live.   It's also one step further  away from secret trials still held in some countries.

Let's have complete transparency, I say.

That once again. is only your opinion.

Are you a fully qualified lawyer in the USA.

Do you know exactly what charges will be brought, even though they are under the seal of the court at this time?

You can whine and wail after the court and the jury has its day, and the jury returns its results. Then the judge will act on it.

Anyone with a name other that Trumps would not be having a hearing. Give up, he is running in 2024 and he will win by a landslide.

Doubt it, but I feel sorry for the USA if he does....????

I beg to differ as much as I love seeing old Donnie being held to account in real time he will use this to grift spin and get the attention he obviously craves. In the interest of a fair trial it should be done under a gag order.Let the law follow its course. There are much more important issues happening now than this citizen’s trial.Get it and the others done let the law follow its course don’t let Donnie with the medias help make it a circus and grift……

Yes the 34 counts are all B.S.

On the subject of BS.

You’ve not seen the indictments, so your comment is clearly a perfect example of what you claim tge indictments to be.

Once again a rightwing accusation turns out to be a confession.
