    For future years, bear in mind that those visa exempt entries by land should be husbanded as your emergency entry method when you are unable to, for instance, get a visa from a consulate.

    The OP asked simple question and it was regarding obtaining a tourist visa. What "proper visa" did you have in mind.  You also state "abuse the system"    Very sad fella.
