Inflation rate hits 16-month low

'Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO) director & team' obviously don't shop where I shop.

Only meats have come down, from their silly earlier price gouging, but still way higher than they should be.   Can't think of anything that isn't up 10-20% or more than just 6 months ago.

Don't know what orifice they seem to pull these inflation #s from, or that they expect people to actually believe them.

Just notice yesterday, flour is on sale now, for more than I paid couple weeks ago.   So I guess that will be the new price, or higher when off sale.   Do they really  think people don't notice that.

38 to 40 to 42 last week, to now on sale this week @ 44 ????  Glad I stock up at 40, and all of 30 ish baht saved ????  Wonder what the new price will be in another month.

I hereby want to confirm that there is no inflation in Thailand.

Today at Big C extra Pattaya, the prepared Thai food had a price increase of more than 20% from yesterday.

Those plastic bags with Thai vegetable soup, a red and a green curry with chicken offal and chicken bones, all went from 45 to 55 baht overnight. Many other of the Thai dishes also increased in price, and none by less than 10%.

I doubt there is any imported item inside those dishes.

Casino pure dessert chocolate 2 x 200gr went from 129 to 175 baht overnight. The other black Casino chocolate 3 x 100gr, went from 119 to 159 baht.

So you can see, inflation is at an all time low

I agree 100% what you say about big C extras prepared food.....It was really cheap for a very long time but in the last year or so its been getting more and more expensive.....Donuts, muffins, noodles dishes....All of it......

The plain Donuts were like 45-50 baht for 8, for a looooong time, but no more....

No way is Thai inflation at 2.7%. Food and fuel are always increasing. Whether in the local market, at one of the big "super"-markets, street stalls or local wet markets prices are up, up and up . Even boat noodles have risen in price well beyond 2.7%. Does any normal person (Thai or foreigner) really beleive this figure?

As a comparison, inflation in Laos, a next door neighbour is over 40%. Maybe both are skewed a bit, as different economies, but there is no way that Thailand is at 2.7%. Let's hope that the upcoming election results will be more accurate and honest!

Kip has fallen perhaps. Most countries inflation be 7% to 17% if using real figures.

Just like the unemployment figures how do they get those? Just because you sold a bunch of bananas means you are employed?

They do it to keep the masses from rioting.

Most Thais are not interested in reading the news they watch sopies

Westerners get fed those low numbers all nonsense. Unemployment would be 10%. Inflation 15%. More real.

Just return from Makro.

Aro French Fries are now 195 baht, they were 99 baht 1 year ago.

I can't think of any more basic food product, and which requires less processing, than potatoes.

So what warrants a 100% price increase over 12 months? And no, they aren't imported from Ukraine either
