He was such an asset to our community here, always helpful and kind.

UJ put up with us for years with style and class. And knowledge, lots of knowledge. He was the go to man here and once he weighed in on a subject you slept better knowing you had received good advice. Condolences and sympathy to the family.

This is very sad news. He truly was an incredible help to many people.

Ubonjoe will be sorely missed but never forgotten!

The epitome of patience and equanimity. 

Never met the man, but was always impressed with his breadth of knowledge and endless patience, often dealing with the same questions over and over again. Doubtful he can be replaced as a contributor, and assuming he was just as helpful and patient in all of his life, doubtful he can ever be replaced in the lives of his friends and family.

 

RIP, good man.

truly a great loss for the community, He helped me out more times than i can count over the years. 

he was one of the very few contributors or miderators on this site worthy of genuine respect.

UbonJoe was always the one person you could count on to give clear and accurate answers to questions regarding the ever-changing and always arcane subject of Immigration and visas.  Always direct and to the point, never derisive or patronizing.

There can be few on this forum for whom UbonJoe did not provide critical information at one time or another.   He generously shared his considerable knowledge with grace.  He will be remembered by me with gratitude and respect.

Very sorry to hear this.  I remember 5 years ago when I arrived in Bangkok as a Thailand Newbie with numerous questions about visa extensions, etc.  Everyone in the forums said that "Ubon Joe is the man".  And indeed he quickly, clearly, kindly replied to a few questions that I asked.  Ubon Joe was the example of what I love with forums, news groups, social media.  Sharing.  I'll miss him.  May he rest in peace.
