555. Yes, I just noticed that too.

U.K supermarkets are huge and have a massive amount of products , like ASDA selling 19 different varieties of fresh tomatoes as well as numerous varieties of tinned tomatoes and tomato sauce and tomato paste  and tomato ketchup.

Sometimes supermarkets do indeed sell out of produce , only takes a restaurant owner to go into a supermarket and buy all the onions , buy by the sackload and that's it , no more onions until the next truck delivery (which are daily)

But if you go into a supermarket and they haven't got what you want , then just buy a similar product or just buy something completely different .

Does it really matter what you have for dinner that night ?

Like, if they don't have carrots, just buy parsnips instead

Raab's seat has always been one of the safest in the country.  True Tory heartland.  The current situation just shows the state of the Conservative Party.  Keep an eye on JRM's "safe" seat as well.  Apparently his constituents are predicting he will be dumped as well.

Actually I think that the Tories could yet save the day if they dump the current shower and start negotiating the return to the EU.  If they did that just watch Labour jump on that bandwagon ????

You should send a message to Rishi Sunak :

Dear Rishi, if you would like to win the next election , you should sack all the current M.P's and re-join the E.U and you might get voted in next time  .

Yours sincerely , a non voter living abroad .

I guess when someone has nothing pertinent to say about the issue, instead they take the B.S. route of making it personal.

You've got nothing.

Farage is correct in some ways, the benefits of Brexit could have been so much better had we negotiated better after the vote. Unfortunately we had traitor Remainers like Thereas May giving up everything to the EU before we'd even started. Many opportunities lost. But even after being sold out by some of our own bitter countrymen, we are better out of the failing corrupt federalist project.

Barely avoiding recession with a predicted GDP growth of 0.4% is not "rosy". It won't even allow UK to reach pre-pandemic level at the end of 2023.

About your second claim, well, It's always the fault of others....

Better than many EU countries. Meaning that leaving the EU is not the cause of low growth, but rather the worldwide economic slowdown caused by Covid lockdowns and the war in Ukraine.

Project Fear has been proved to be a lie.

So what’s this about ‘Brexit has failed’?

And why is the UK the only G7 nation not to have recovered its economy to pre-pandemic levels?

When other G7 countries have recovered pre-pandemic level at latest last year and UK still won't reach this level at the end of 2023, it strongly suggests there is a negative impact of Brexit. "Project fear" confirmed so far.

Farage wanted the hardest of hard Brexits. Harder than a machete wielding Honey Badger named Hardman McHard. He probably sees ways that we could have distanced ourselves further from the EU and hence sees some missed opportunities. One man's opinion. Interesting to see you and Farage in agreement though. Like 2 peas in a pod.

Great point. Except of course, for the inconvenient fact that it HAS recovered to pre-pandemic levels.????

Hmmmm...

The latest 2023 Q1 report by the ONS (released 12 Mai, so more up-to-date data than the article you linked)

"The first quarterly estimate of UK real gross domestic product (GDP) shows that the economy increased by 0.1% in Quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) 2023 (Figure 1). This follows growth of 0.1% in the previous quarter. The level of quarterly GDP in Quarter 1 2023 is now 0.5% below its pre-coronavirus (COVID-19) level (Quarter 4 2019)."

Clutching at straws...

What was it Project Fear said? 8% loss in GDP? ???? Yet here we are doing just fine. Predicted to do better than Germany of all countries, the powerhouse of the EU.

They were lies, and thankfully 52% of British voters at the referendum ignored them.

????

Once again, one of the problems of Brexit is highlighted: There is no clear vision of what it is.

Farage's vision of Brexit is different from Sunak's which is different from Gove's which is different to .... How can it possibly succeed if you don't know what "it" is?

Dear oh dear.

The OBR estimates a 4% hit to GDP from Brexit.

Not my idea of a success, why even Farage says ‘Brexit has failed’.

Farage is very clear on what Brexit is, Brexit is a failure.

You're posting forecasts. I am posting results.

Can't you read what I posted? According to the latest results (Q3 data released on 12 May, not forecast):

"The level of quarterly GDP in Quarter 1 2023 is now 0.5% below its pre-coronavirus (COVID-19) level"
