A LITHUANIAN woman holidaying in Kanachanburi fought off attempted rape by a park employee who had befriended her during a trip to Erawan Falls with police quickly arresting and charging the suspect with the crime, MNG online said today (June 2).

Pol. Maj  Pakornkiat Chinthet, an inspector at Si Sawat police station, said at 12.14 p.m. yesterday Kanchanaburi Tourist Police brought Mrs. Evilita Grabauskabauskaite, 27, to report that at 4.40 p.m. the day before she had fought off an attempted rape at Erawan Falls. The Tourist Police had brought an interpreter along and the Lithuanian woman submitted a video clip as evidence.

Police then coordinated with Erawan National Park Chief Mr. Prawat Phuangthong and a little later the park employee, Mr. Pramote Khongkham, 24, came to the police station to acknowledge charges of committing indecent acts and using force to intentionally harm others.

He emphasized that his actions were not representative of the Thai population as a whole and should be understood as a reflection of his own character. In a gesture of remorse, he humbly bowed to express his sincerity while extending apologies to the victim and the Thai people.

Damage limitation in full swing.

Good advertisement for the TAT. So now they don't only rape your wallet with the farang rip of fees, but they'll also rape you.

Hope she is OK.

Brave woman. That guy is bigger and brawnier than the average Thai guy. That ruse to get her to an isolated spot wasn't something he came up with on the spur of the moment. Sounds like he had a plan in mind, just waiting for an opportunity to put it into action. Wonder if he's done this before and victims just haven't come forward.

Clearly a Thai with an unusually educated and erudite grasp of his own language.
