Bought another rabbit on Sunday ......... big surprise this morning.

My local breeder messaged me, wanted to sell me 2 female rabbits (4 months old), so I went to get them.

This morning there were baby rabbits scattered across the ground.

6 are alive and I've gathered them up and put them in a nest I made.

Pushed a rabbit hut and cage together.

I know nothing about baby rabbits!

Congratulations ....The mother should know how to look after them , especially

if it's not her first time, I see she has pulled her fur out for the nest , so that's a good sign,

give her some green stuff so she can produce enough milk for them.

Mother is 4 months old and knows nothing.

I made the nest from materials (fur and straw) provided by one of my other older rabbits when she was a bit broody.

Rabbits can breed at four months old? I did not know that.

GF brought home a rabbit a couple of years ago at four months. Was still a tiny little thing. Now big and fat.

The only things I know about rabbits is if you buy a chicken casserole from a Chinese restaurant that's in the Australian interior, the odds are pretty good it will actually be rabbit. Almost certain before calcivirus decimated the rabbit population.

During the Great Depression, people living on rabbit meat for protein became fat deficient. Leanest meat around.

Rabbit needs to be hung in the skin for a couple of days to tenderize. Fresh rabbit meat cooks up tough as old boots.

Baby rabbits? Let the mother feed them. Give her food to produce milk.

How do you know the local breeder was not lying about the mother's age?
