Thailand will soon learn this was a huge mistake.

The article subject is long-distance highspeed rail which will be conventional yet, posted, is an image of a monorail unit. Has the design been changed? Either way, should I buy shares in Anutin's ready-mix?

Please note:

This first phase to be completed by 2026 will link standard gauge HST tracks between Bangkok and Korat. It will be many years away before Bangkok is linked to Kunming. Contracts are still being discussed along with land purchases and environmental issues. Completion of the HST from Korat via Khon Kaen to Nong Khai and across the Mekong on a massive new bridge to Vientiene is a long, long way into the future. From the map below it is predicted HST will reach Nong Khai in 2029.

Ouch. Heard of few people buying up land to benefit from the Hua Hin high speed train.

2032, at the very earliest, is a long time to wait for the return on investment...:coffee1:

On a separate note, what's the definition of "high speed" for this network ?

Why? It is already now a big success sending fresh products from the existing part in Laos to China.

I think it is just a symbolic photo from some journalist who doesn't know anything technical....

Thailand doesn't have a good record in quickly learning about huge mistakes.

Does this timetable include rolling stock? With or without "propulsion"?

Korat is lovely.

Getting to the "Gateway to Isaan" quickly? Meh. Then what. Sit around and wait.

Wait until the whole fast track line is established from China to Thailand and watch what comes south.

Remember when Cambodia was an independent country until China moved in?  Remember LAOS?  Coming to Thailand real soon.
