I live in the UK & visit my house in Thailand for about 10 weeks per year. I am about to be divorced in the UK & I want to marry my Thai girlfriend who lives at my house in Hua Hin & I have known her for 3 years. Then I want her to come to the UK although I want to spend more & more time in Thailand.

My girlfriend was recently refused a UK visit visa maybe because I was still married in the UK.

Questions

I have read that I have to wait 310 days after divorce in the UK before I can marry in Thailand is this correct?

Is it best to marry in Thailand then apply for the visa or go for a marriage visa and wed in the UK?

Is it true that after the Thai marriage my Thai wife cannot hold any assets in Thailand Land etc?

HELP

Thanks

Sorry for the brevity, but I'm a bit rushed today.:-

1. No. there is a limitation in Thailand on how soon a woman can remarry, but not a man.

2. Visa-wise, it doesn't really make much difference, but to marry in Thailand will save you an additional immigration application once in the UK.

3. No, it's not true.

Scouse.

You are! The restriction on wives of foreigners owning land in Thailand was lifted around 10 or so years ago.
