Thai Interpol are expected to issue Red notices today (Sunday) for two civilians who are alleged to be involved with a group of police officers in extorting about 140 million baht from alleged members of an illegal online gambling gang.

Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, the deputy national police chief, who has been put in charge of investigating the extortion case, in which eight police officers, including Chon Buru provincial police commander, Pol Maj-Gen Kampol Leelaprapaporn, are implicated, said today that the two civilians have left Thailand.

Kampol and his seven subordinates were transferred to the operations centre of the Royal Thai Police headquarters yesterday, pending the outcome of an investigation.

Surachate also said that summonses will be issued for the police officers to acknowledge the charges against them.

Let me guess, it's very important that the bribes are recovered?

As we already know who the gambling gangs are forced to closely associated with - online or otherwise.

Why does Thailand have its own Interpol? That makes no sense. Surely they should be requesting INTERPOL (Inernational) to issue Red Notices for the two individuals who have left Thailand? ????

Thailand has a regional Interpol Office which liases with Interpol HQ in France. For reference (Facebook)

: The INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for #Thailand is part of the Foreign Affairs Division (FAD). The FAD Commander is also the Head of INTERPOL #Bangkok, which is made up of three sub-divisions responsible for specific regions:
1. #INTERPOL and Coordination Sub-Division (Region 1): Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a geo-political and economic organization of ten countries located in Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam;
2. INTERPOL and Coordination Sub-Division (Region 2): North America, South America, East Asia, and Oceania;
3. INTERPOL and Coordination Sub-Division (Region 3): Europe, Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.
