webfact
A Thai Vietjet flight at Khon Kaen International Airport was disrupted after a bird collided with the aircraft’s engine, causing delays for 159 passengers. The incident occurred while the plane was parked, awaiting passengers for the VZ215 service from Khon Kaen to Suvarnabhumi Airport. The bird, reportedly an owl, struck the right engine of the parked aircraft at around 7.35pm, causing damage that prevented the flight from taking off at its scheduled time of 8.05pm. Flight VZ215 was parked at stand 2 within Khon Kaen International Airport when the incident took place, leaving the stranded passengers uncertain about their travel plans. Thai Vietjet Air arranged an alternative aircraft to transport the affected passengers, with an estimated departure time of 10.30pm. Furthermore, the airline sent a team of technicians to inspect and repair the damaged plane, which was moved to stand 4 to facilitate the necessary repairs, reported Sanook. by Samantha Rose Top Picture courtesy of Sanook Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/world/aviation/bird-collision-delays-thai-vietjet-flight-159-passengers-affected-at-khon-kaen-airport -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-06-19 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. webfact
Bangkok bound flight delayed after owl hits engine on the ground in Khon Kaen An owl struck the right engine of a Thai Viet Jet aircraft, as it was parked on the apron of Khon Kaen international airport on Saturday night, causing the flight to be delayed and its 159 passengers to be transferred to another aircraft. The incident took place at 7.35pm as Thai Viet Jet’s flight VZ215 was waiting for the 159 passengers to board. The bird strike forced the airline to arrange for another aircraft to carry the passengers to Bangkok, albeit several hours behind schedule. The damaged plane remains on the apron, as mechanics assess the damage. LukKrueng
Don't they get it? The airplane was parked on stand 2! That's the main issue here. Later it was moved to stand 4 for repairs. That was a very good decision. So if you ever have to take a flight out of KK make sure the airplane is parked anywhere BUT stand 2!!

mikeymike100
Must have been a big Owl? I don't what type of engine the aircraft had, but normally they are designed to ingest birds without any problems?
