Yes...and that can be said for every position....but that is not relevant. Money, Power, Influence......

Nice point, however this relies, up to a point, on opinion which will be 'coloured' by the claims of the parties involved.

You are right but sometimes politics a cronyism rules. We used to have impartial speakers in the UK until John Bercow took the post. He's been refused a peerage and banned from UK parliament for this and bullying.
