Popular Post snoop1130
The UK and US embassies in Thailand co-hosted an annual pride event, to support LGBTQ+ rights and celebrate efforts on inclusion in Thai society. On the theme ‘’United in Love’’, supporters long for equality, including legalisation of same-sex marriage. As a same-sex marriage bill is yet to pass through parliament, LGBTQ+ defenders are demanding that the legalisation process be sped up, to protect the LGBTQ+ community. UK Ambassador to Thailand, Mark Gooding, spoke about UK values and his personal experience, to encourage the development of LGBTQ+ rights. ‘’As an LGBTQ+ ambassador in Bangkok, I got Civil Partnership in 2005. 10 years later, my partner and I changed the status to marriage, when the UK’s Equal Marriage Act was passed. This is important for symbolic reasons, including being treated equally in society.’’ US Ambassador to Thailand, Robert Godec, also shared US values when it comes to developing equality for the LGBTQ+ community in Thailand. ‘’Every nation is taking its journey to equality. In the United States, we have made progress in past years, but we also faced big challenges in the past. There are still certain areas where progresses are needed. What is important is that we stand shoulder to shoulder with communities in Thailand.’’ Caption: From left to right, US Ambassador to Thailand, Robert Godec, and UK Ambassador to Thailand, Mark Gooding Full Story: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/uk-and-us-advocate-development-of-lgbtq-rights-in-thailand/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2023-06-26 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Yes, human rights and equal treatment for all is a great idea. Hardly "woke", both are recovering from being derailed by cruel right-wing thugs. 5 1 1
Popular Post Smokey and the Bandit
Maybe, one would think, these two countries, USA and UK would want to get their own house in order on a host of other more important things before attempting to develop LGBTQ+ rights in Thailand? 2 2 1
Popular Post JonnyF
The last thing Thailand should be doing is taking advice on LGBTQ++ from the UK and the US. It's massively divisive there, whereas Thailand appears to have a much more sensible approach and far fewer issues. I would suggest these two go back to their respective countries and try to put their own house in order. Leave Thailand to resolve any remain issues here, of which there are not many in comparison. 3 2 2

Jingthing
The US needs Thailand's help on.these matters. LGBTQ Americans are now subject to vicious attacks by right wing demagogues and also white nationalist domestic terrorist groups https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/understanding-the-erotic-code/202303/the-backlash-against-all-things-lgbtq Today we are seeing a rapidly growing backlash against all things LGBTQ. According to the America Civil Liberties Union, as of March this year, at least 385 anti-LGBTQ laws have been introduced at the state level in most U.S. states. These include everything from banning public drag shows to criminalizing gender-affirming care by medical professionals and even charging parents supportive of their trans kids with child abuse. Many schools are now infected with fear about even mentioning issues of gender identity and sexual orientation. One recent Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) speaker even called for the “elimination” of transgenderism. The audience applauded. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/apr/28/lgbtq-rights-us-dont-say-gay US news After years of progress on gay rights, how did the US become so anti-LGBTQ+? A slew of bills are rolling back recently won freedoms. Is America ready to fight for LGBTQ+ rights all over again? h90
as there is a lot aggression in US/UK. But Ladymen are part of society for a long time in Thailand, it would be better to not follow US.

What I read are mean words. But mean words isn't terrorism. That is just not very polite.

If that's necessary to "maintain" something has horribly gone wrong. 2

If that's necessary to "maintain" something has horribly gone wrong. I don't personally know any conservatives, including myself, who would want to demonize gay people. We understand that sexual orientation is a personal choice and should be respected. However, I do have major concerns about the way LGBTQ is being introduced pushed on to children at a young age. It seems that the focus is primarily on promoting progressive values while traditional family values are overlooked or not encouraged in our modern era, which I find extremely worrying as traditional family values are incredibly important for the stability and well-being of individuals, families, and society as a whole Edited June 27, 2023 by Kaopad999 2 1
Popular Post Goat
In the US and UK both sides of this "debate" are going over the top. Thailand handles it better. If a man wants to make sweet tender passionate love with another man, it really has nothing to do with me. Go for for it mate. Just dont make too big a deal about it. 2

It's basic education it's also very helpful to LGBTQ youth to not have schools try to erase their existence and history. Spot on. The legal bonanza that awaits family court lawyers would be hard to exaggerate. Look abroad. What is the divorce rate among same-sex couples in countries where it is legal? Give this new dispensation time to ripen and simmer on the hob for a while. Any American-style laws that govern family matters will lead to the same dysfunction and idiocy that is so obvious in the US and any other countries that have similar domestic laws. In my 40+ years here I've seen same sex couples accepted socially among the middle and lower income Thais whom I settled among. This initiative will provoke violence if it is carried too far. The situation may not be perfect here in Thailand, but it is miles ahead of anything in Farangland. 2 1
