Pattaya — At a council meeting on Wednesday, July 28th, Pattaya council members proposed to the mayor to hire better lighting decorators to enhance the city’s festivals to attract tourists more effectively.

Council Members Mrs. Jidapha Suwattaporn and Mr. Anupong Buddhanawarat raised questions regarding the installation of decorative lights at the city’s upcoming festivals yesterday.

They said they were concerned about the lighting during important events such as the New Year, Christmas, and King Taksin the Great Memorial Day celebrations, which will expectedly draw thousands of tourists.

The concern was whether an adequate budget has been allocated for the lighting decorations and whether the professionals involved are skilled and experienced or not.

They should concentrate on their infrastructure rather than putting money into such superficial things as lighting ???? e.g. more public bathrooms, better roads and sewer systems.

Are we setting up for some fancy light features at some astronomical price with the opportunity for brown envelopes here?

What I've heard about road accidents in Pattaya, they should concentrate on improving poorly lit roads.

Yes, we need better lighting to spot the holes and roadworks.

Only relatives of the mayor are to be shortlisted; skilled and experienced or not!
