webfact
Former Pheu Thai MP and political activist Jatuporn Prompan spoke on Wednesday on ThaiRath TV, where he gave a telling analysis of just what might unfold in Thailand from Thursday, July 13th next, when an eight-party coalition nominates the Move Forward Party’s Pita Limjaroenrat to be Thailand’s next Prime Minister. One discounted option that may emerge as the political stakes grow and the danger of instability becomes apparent is the inclusion of the Bhumjaithai Party in the proposed coalition if the country finds itself at perilous political crossroads where compromises are unavoidable. Veteran political activist and pro-democracy campaigner Jatuporn Prompan predicts that the Pheu Thai Party will ultimately face a fateful decision in the coming weeks between adhering to democratic principles or reaching a compromise with parties of the outgoing government if the Thai Senate continues to block a government with the Move Forward Party at its head. His disturbing assessment was made on Thai TV on Wednesday night just hours after House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha confirmed that a joint parliamentary session will go ahead on Thursday, July 13th to try to elect Thailand’s 30th Prime Minister. Newly elected House Speaker, Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, confirmed on Wednesday, that July 13th will be the day that the joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Senate will be held. by Joseph O' Connor #news Full story: https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2023/07/06/pheu-thai-in-a-terrible-dilemma-says-jatuporn-pm-election-political-power/ -- © Copyright Thai Examiner 2023-07-07 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post bannork
Jatuporn confidently predicted that PT's Suchart Tancharern would be elected House Speaker. Wrong. PT don't have to do anything if Pita is not elected by the senators. The coalition sticks together then proposes Settha as PM. If the senators reject even him, then it is screamingly obvious the senators are rejecting the choices of the vast majority of Thai voters. The coalition go into Opposition and let.Bhumjaithai form a minority government which very quickly collapses. Only Anuthin has already said he won't be part of a minority government. A way out for the dinosaurs and PT would be the dissolution of MF, but even then the MPs can join a reserved spare party. PT risk considerable damage if they betray MF and join Bhumjaithai. Better to stick with MF and see the senators blink. After all the senators sole objection to MF is reform of article 112.. PT have no such agenda so senators have no reason to oppose Settha as PM. Popular Post cleopatra2
The wise move is for MF to drop the 112 amendment. ( It is unlikely to gain much support in Parliament). Then once Pita is PM to bring it forward for debate in the future. 5 1

That anyway no matter which Oligarchs puppet will be PM....Thaksins or Thai Summit (Thanathorn) and all are members of the World Economic Forum and follow their agenda (Prayut, Thanatorn, Shinawattras, Abhisit). So less of a question about democracy and more of a question how bad it will be.....

And it isn't the most urgent problem of Thailand, they could have started that 2 years later.

So the Senators can't try to get someone who doesn't has a robust coalition supporting him/her. MFP has 151 MP of 500. So there are plenty of coalitions possible without them if they are too radical

PTP is the Shinawattra clan. It is not democracy against the elites.....it is which Oligarch wins over the other, or if it is the men in green uniform. 1 1

They aren't a single block They can't block an overwhelming vote of 376 MPs They can't install a PM who has less than 250 votes in Parliament (because he can't govern without majority). So it is only that they have some influence.
