General Prawit may emerge next week to clinch Prime Minister’s job due to a polarised parliament

On Friday, speculation was growing that the Palang Pracharat Party leader, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan (centre), may be nominated next Wednesday as tensions mount in a more polarised parliament.

Potential shock as Deputy Prime Minister emerges as a contender with the potential support of senators. On Friday, Pheu Thai Party Prime Ministerial nominee Srettha Thavisin said he failed to see how General Prawit could secure the top job with the Palang Pracharat Party only having 40 MPs but Pheu Thai Party stalwart and leader, Dr Cholnan Srikaew, expressed concern at that very possibility in a charged atmosphere after Thursday’s stormy debate in the joint sitting of parliament.

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, the leader of the Palang Pracharat Party may emerge as a surprise new candidate for Prime Minister next Wednesday with sources within the eight-party coalition increasingly concerned after Thursday’s polarised debate in parliament, that the avuncular party leader may gain the support of the 188 MPs in the House who voted against Mr Pita and swing undecided senators to come in behind his bid which could lead to him securing well over the 375 votes required under Section 272 to be legally confirmed as government leader.

On Friday, the day after the vote in Parliament which saw Mr Pita Limjaroenrat fail to reach the minimum votes required, 375 in a joint session of Parliament to be elected Thailand’s 30th Prime Minister, the eight-party coalition behind him met to discuss its future strategy.

As mentioned in other threads so even if they get him to become PM, the idea of a minority government which can't pass anything through the House of Representatives is absurd. How's that supposed to work?

it’s truly sad that the people voted majority for the Move Forward Party and corrupt politicians are going against the words of Democracy and Choice !!
Thailand appears to behaving like a Dictatorship !

Potential shock......? The only person shocked by this seems to be Mr O'Connor of the Thai Examiner. This outcome has been obvious since the election results were announced.

The Who precicted it long ago:

I'll tip my hat to the new Constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no

Yeah
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

So what, unless there's another election that counts for nothing.

Prawit 40

Against Pita voters 188

Plus 250-13

Done.

And then?

Minority Leader under section xy with special power same as during Covid?

Or whatever.

Prawit, Anutin or PheuThai guy have more chances to become PM as Pita ever had.

Pita had never a strategy and failed to get rid of 42.000 shares worth less than 45.000 Baht.

Own mistake and court must decide on existing law.
