Online community saw #ธุรกิจสว (Senator’s business) trending top overnight, after Move Forward supporters gathered information on businesses owned by senators and their families, with a focus on those who abstained or were absent from the voting on Pita Limjaroenrat’s prime ministerial candidacy on Thursday.

 

One Twitter user said that this is a way they can exercise their rights, by choosing to boycott certain businesses with links to senators. The concept even goes as far as erecting signage near those businesses to inform the public.

 

People were, however, also strongly advised to be modest and careful in their comments on social media, since they could be charged under the Computer Crime Act, which stipulates that any person who damages, destroys, corrects, changes or amends another party’s computer data, either in whole or in part, shall be subject to imprisonment of up to five years and/or a fine of up to one hundred thousand baht.

Abstain and Thou shall be Boycotted!

The junta Senators all talk about the lese-majeste law as reason for not voting (or abstaining) for MFP PM candidate Pitha, but maybe this CEO has the real reason.   They are afraid of losing their military jobs and priveledges.

 

the senators might want to take notice of current boycotts and what they have done to businesses bottom line. serious damage. 

 

this is fantastic and a reflection of the new world we live in. time for the old world to die off....... it can't come fast enough.

It can if they are using Signal App that will delete msgs after a specified time.
This doesn't help for getting their msg widespread though as you stated ...

very easily. if people simply stop buying from a company or using their product the bottom line will be hit hard.

Meanwhile, Somchai Sawaengkarn, one of the 250 junta-appointed senators, said several members were gathering evidence to file a defamation lawsuit against netizens for the boycott.

 

Somchai warned individuals engaging in such behaviour not to take it lightly, as senators have gathered evidence. All past incidents would be investigated and, if found to fall within the scope of defamation, legal action would be taken in all cases, he said.

Excellent idea. Publish a list of their names, that of their spouses, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children (no, they are NOT off limits). Punish them all by association, and shame and humiliate the heathen senators into submission. Inflict as much pain onto them as possible, and make their lives a living hell.

 

This is a very serious situation, and should be treated as such. Anything it takes. There is no shame in fighting filthy people with dirty tactics.

So, listing all Thai Senators names and how they voted or abstained would not violate as a matter of public record? Listing next to the names the major source of income from the public filing they must do every year, also a matter of public record?

Weak, pathetic, cowardly, self entitled hooligans, who are accustomed to a perch atop the ivory tower, scared to death of being taken down a notch, and being asked to be accountable for their heinous and unforgivable actions. Of course they will resort to whatever dirty tactics they can. That is who and what they are. Filth. They are the deplorables.

 

Hah! Perhaps this is the beginning of the end of the gravy train. Let us hope Thai society has the courage and moral conviction to hold these criminals responsible.

Not doing so, more or less puts Thailand in the category of the hermit kingdom, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the most repressed and undemocratic nations on earth. Does it not?

While this whimsical strategy might work (or not) for restaurant reviews, I suspect it's not bulletproof if the wrong people are after you. In many countries intent is a major factor in gauging guilt under the law.

 

I, for one, don't have the guts to find out.

 

Laws in the Kingdom are made to be bent.

Better cover your face -- seems like something the authorities are going to get involved with?  I love that Thais are becoming more activist and involved in pressuring their government.  

The baht is very resilient due to the USD swap line in place with the Thai central bank, no doubt.  Also, one cannot buy or sell large amount of baht.  These are other ways the friendly politicians rig the game.  This country is run by a handful of individuals.  Don't think boycotting  some businesses will be very effective at all. Plan B needs to be implemented.

There is always more than one way to skin a cat.

Cannot be any worse than the dirty tactics they are using. It makes me laugh that they behave like petulant children. They deal in dirty tricks, and lies, then cry foul when the shoe is on the other foot, and it looks like it will hit their pockets. These archaic defamation laws need scrapping so the truth can come out more.

Absolutely. The defamation laws were written by sold out cowards, to protect rotten players from reprisals, due to bad service, faulty products and bad business. They have no place in today's world. They represent a heinous over reach of toxic power. 

 

Thailand deserves whatever comes its way as a result of this. Those insane and cowardly defamation laws have been around way too long. They were written and passed by sold out politicians, for men who sell inferior products, offer inferior services, and steal alot of money. And do not intend to be answerable to anyone. Perhaps some of that will change. 

 

For those of us who have been here a awhile, we know that positive change only happens here through utter embarrassment, humiliation, and a loss of face. It never happens because it is the right thing to do, or due to fairness or equity. So, it must be thrust upon them, such as in this incident. 

 

The lack of vision prevents them from seeing it coming. Egg on the face can be a cure for many diseases and weaknesses. 

 

Call out the goombahs, and laugh in their faces when they make their inevitable threats!
