snoop1130
The Thai parliament will hold a debate tomorrow (Wednesday) on the issue of the re-nomination of Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat as Thailand’s next prime minister, after the House and Senate whips failed to resolve their differences on the issue at today’s meeting. The whips are clearly divided on this contentious issue with the House whips, for the Move Forward party in particular, contending that parliamentary Rule 41 should not be applied in the selection of the prime minister, claiming that parliamentary regulations regarding prime minister’s selection are covered in a different chapter. The Senate whips, however, maintain that Rule 41 must be applied. Rule 41 specifies that the any motion which fails to be approved in parliament (such as Pita’s candidacy) cannot be resubmitted in the same parliamentary session. snoop1130
Pheu Thai party to oppose any challenge the legality of Pita’s re-nomination The Pheu Thai party will vote against any motion by members of parliament which challenges the motion, supported by the eight coalition parties, to re-nominate Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat as next prime minister, according to Pheu Thai party leader Chonlanan Srikaew. The Pheu Thai party has assigned Sutin Klungsang, a party-list MP, to submit a motion to parliament tomorrow (Wednesday), re-nominating Pita, after the party executive committee agreed at a meeting today to support Pita. Chonlanan said that all the party’s 141 MPs will vote for Pita’s prime ministerial candidacy, adding, however, that, if parliament votes not to accept Pita’s re-nomination motion, based on Rule 41, and reschedules the vote on the selection of the prime minister to Thursday, the party will wait and see how the Move Forward party reacts in response to the situation. digger70
It's stupid in the first place ,why have to vote again if Pita can be PM. They voted last week and they said No Leave it like that and Nominate the next person who's in line with the right qualifications . Pita seems to be lacking some . 1 1

Because, I think, there was some hope that the two main hurdles that Pita erected for himself, the issue of the idiotic shares and the frontal attack on LM law, would improve in one week. They apparently haven't, so possibly this vote is just a waste of time.

MikeN
Now that the junta and senators have decided the issue, every PM candidate can only be nominated once. So PT's nominees can be rejected by the senators, and every other candidate from the democratic coalition....which would leave the junta nominees as last man standing. Minority government ahead ?
