Election intrigue: Thai court mulls lawsuit over EC’s unjust targeting of MFP leader Pita

In a significant development, the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases is considering a lawsuit against the Election Commission (EC) of Thailand for unjustly targeting Pita Limjaroenrat, the Move Forward Party’s leader, resulting in damage to his reputation.

 

A verdict on whether to officially open the case for hearing is expected at 9:30am on August 9. Those implicated in the lawsuit include EC Chairman Ittiporn Boonpracong, all five election commissioners, and EC Secretary-General Sawang Boonmee, as disclosed by Yongyut Saokaewsatit, the legal representative of Pita.

 

It is claimed that all seven EC officials are culpable for negligence of official duties and misconduct, as detailed in Section 157 of the Criminal Code. The lawyer stated that if found guilty, this could potentially lead to the impeachment of all seven EC officials.

 

This case comes on the back of the EC’s decision to escalate an ineligibility case relating to Pita’s prior holding of 42,000 shares in iTV Plc, to the Constitutional Court. The lawyer said…

 

“It has been incumbent on these seven EC officials to meticulously scrutinise Limjaroenrat’s eligibility before the general election that took place on May 14.”

Very interesting. Is this a junta lackey, dinasaur, self serving generals, corrupt, anti democratic, anti progressuive, pro status quo, protect the three pillars court or is it actually a court that can do something? Probably a moot question as it doesn't matter. Eventually (near future) coup no. 14 vwill come.

Apparently, my question was not clear enough. We have a court (which are generally yellow in Thailand) (on top of it, established in 2016) going against the yellow EC when the EC seems to carry the will of the establishment. 

Some divergence inside the yellow-green establishment?

If the EC fails then the CC still exists... both controlled entities, as are the senate.

The whole system is now rigged to succeed for the chosen ones.

Unfortunately, an outright revolt may be the only way forward. The junta-rigged system needs to be totally unraveled and a new system put in place. After two near-misses that failed due to junta finagling to stay in power, the majority are much more politically savvy than they were in the 2016 era. The fat cats need to be kicked to the curb.

I like that they are putting these bodies under pressure with such cases. Bombard them with lawsuits. 

 

Probably won't get a desired result but just the fact that they have to continually squirm and plot their deceit while being exposed to the electorate is somewhat satisfying.

Unfortunately the largely lethargic population will not rise to the occasion which is why this monopoly will continue to rule them.

Every city should already be besieged with peaceful protests.

If the worm won't turn it will remain under-foot in the ground.

Alas that seems to be happening.
